Not a big fan of the DNR, but A New Hope looks absolutely stunning on UHD BD. They avoided that plastic look while there is still a ton of finer detail in there (some of which I've never seen before). I also like the color timing, shadows, contrast, and reserved HDR approach.

My mom took me to see Empire on opening night in 1980. I recall waiting a long time in line. At that age (8 yrs old), it was really amazing to see the Star Wars universe expanded. Hoth, Dagobah, and Cloud City. The new characters...who couldn't love Yoda. Boba Fett was too cool. Lando...

You cannot judge the UHD color based on the screen-caps given SDR conversion used. On a properly calibrated and well toned mapped display, I think most will like the color. But yes, the old BD looks way over-saturated and contrast bloated.
I will say these discs are WAY better than the 2011 BDs. There is no comparison at all. I think it's a shame if anyone sticks with those over these discs.
I highly doubt we will ever see these revisited again on disc. Why? Well, physical media especially after this virus situation is going...

But this movie (and maybe Empire) is the greatest 'sci-fi-fantasy-opera-action-adventure' of all time.
I watched this last night (JVC UHD projector at 124" on a scope screen sitting about 9.5 feet back. System well calibrated and tone mapping done with Panasonic 820).
Prior to watching the disc, I saw a number of screencaps and thought "ugh". In fact, that is why I didn't even purchase right...
