It just seems like with all the technical know-how to build a giant death-dispensing mech, it would have an automatic transmission. So I guess I would just expect to have a Forward/Reverse switch.

I think I read somewhere that the mechs have "manual transmissions" ... is that right? Do you have to worry about shifting gears while fighting/manuevering?
