Doug, The reason is likely incompatibiity with car stereo equipment, home cd players and can't copy with software. If all cd drives played both, then you would have seen a move to the format.

I have rented many Blu-ray discs and never had an issue with them. While the superior coating may cost more to produce, as a consumer, I rather have the better coating on the disk than internet connections. How is the HD-DVD coating holding up?

I read in the latst CE Pro that Microsoft and Toshiba are working together to build an Xbox with a built in HD-DVD drive and have the xbox be a home entertainment server. Maybe the PS3 process of getting Blu-ray drives out in the market was not a bad strategy.

Looks like Taget has a great deal this week on Blu-ray. Sony Blu-ray player 399 with 5 mail in movies and $100 gift card and 2 Blu-ray movies from a set list. This makes it very close to the $299 Toshiba player with 8 disks.

I never said the 100 gig were for Movies. My comment was that a format has to be more than purchased movies. Blu-ray provides a large capasity to have home movies, other media on one disc.
