The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

It's more that some have been examining Oz like the Zapruder film over the last month ;)

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

The 4K version was pulled. It's only HD now.

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

They're pictures taken of my TV with my phone only meant to show what resolution is listed in the menu, not picture quality.

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

To make sure this is clear - what the movie's main screen says for resolution is NOT the resolution you are playing. That is seen when playing the movie. The Wizard of Oz shows 4K DV on the main screen but is not currently playing 4K. Here is what it looks like (tvOS 13): (You will have to...

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

Every format has always had and always will have its issues. Right now there are threads of people having discs that won't play after a couple of years or people having to wait a long time to get their copy of The Thin Man to ship. It's good to be aware of these problems when they come up but...

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

When I did the same with other titles my MA version upgraded accordingly. When you gift it to yourself, it's still your account that is connected to MA making the purchase. I totally agree the convoluted world of digital streaming and Movies Anywhere is the problem we are all dealing with here...

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

Man, we have info all over the place on this. You're saying yours is 4K in MA... Robert said his is still HD in MA... Tino in another thread is saying iTunes has put back the 4K version... I think we might need some more info here before passing judgment on iTunes or streaming on general

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

I think the more accurate question is 'does Warners do this often.' These streaming services are at the mercy of the studios for the content they provide. For the things they can control, like issuing refunds if requested, they are top notch.

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

To anyone who bought it when it was 4K - what resolution do you have it in Movies Anywhere as?

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

I disagree with this. If it says 4K when you bought it, it's reasonable to expect that's what you're getting for your money. Remember some who bought it already had the HD version, meaning when it was downgraded they were left with nothing more than they had before. I have no problem with...

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

I'm still seeing 4K DV in the main menu but I only own HD so I can't play to test...

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

Man, tough crowd. Re: MGM and Warner - the digital release is listed as Warner and it's Movies Anywhere enabled (MGM is not part of MA). Everything I can find says Warner's owns the copyright to it.

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

The Digital Bits: "AppleTV and iTunes now have Warner’s The Wizard of Oz available for download in 4K with Dolby Vision. My industry sources tell me that a physical 4K Ultra HD release is coming too from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, and should be announced soon."

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

No, I'm not saying doing that would upgrade anything in MA. I'm saying you would essentially be buying a new copy and that new copy would would give you whatever MA resolution buying a new copy is supposed to give you (which might not always be 4K). I am definitely not saying you are guaranteed...

The Wizard of Oz 4K UHD 80th Anniversary

I would say wait until it's available in 4K, then gift it to yourself. That way the 4K version will port into MA.
