Expect a LOUD Blu-ray. I had to turn down the volume on my receiver good amount below my usual level to keep the "2049" sound levels from blowing my speakers!
I have a relatively new SVS 12" sub that has handled everything I've thrown at it with aplomb - until "2049". When I had the volume...
Dunno. I'd requested the 3D and the 4K from WB for review purposes but only got the 4K,
I have a package from WB coming tomorrow so I guess it's possible it's the 3D - I'll know more tomorrow night!
I'd recommend something superior like the Etymotics. Those offer much better sound quality than the foam ones.
The foam ones deaden sound - it's quieter but also flatter/duller. The Etymotics - and similar variants - reduce volume but retain sound quality well...
I already have tinnitus, and I can't claim IMAX movies have made it worse. I saw "Last Jedi" IMAX yesterday - it was loud byt not painfully so.
That said, I put in earplugs when I saw "BR 2049" theatrically - it was just too frickin' loud!
I've only felt a need to use my 'plugs 2 or 3 times...
I actually complain to IMAX about this, as I initially thought it might've been the fault of the particular theater - the sound was so loud that the speakers rattled!
Never heard back from IMAX!
Agree - this isn't a movie that seemed like to appeal to the teen crowd anyway.
An "R" can hurt a movie, but not one with an audience mostly made up of 18 and overs...
