Well, maybe it WAS meant as a gag in that way, but it didn't come across in that manner to me. I mean, if it was meant as a recurring gag, it didn't work very well since apparently I'm the only one who noticed it - and I didn't think it was a gag! :)

Yeah, I just think it's really odd. And my tinfoil hat works just fine, dammit! :D

Yeah, I know the connection between Franco and Apatow. I fully understand why Spidey comes up in that one interview scene. This still doesn't explain why it CONTINUES to come up through the rest of the movie. C'mon - it's not like Spidey needed advertising from Knocked Up! I still think...

Well, there was the Franco interview done by Alison - that mentions it. Then there's the time that Ben's friends rush off to see Spidey. Then there's the part where Pete mentions it to Debbie. I think there's one other mention as well - I think Pete brings it up to Ben at one point, but...

I understand that might be the reason a recent flick was chosen, but I remain puzzled by the filmmakers' choice to refer to it so damned much. I don't know if any of the references were necessary - not even when Alison talks to James Franco. Plus, I think we hear about it through much of the...

Yeah, some of it - there was just so much that reminded me so closely of The Simpsons that I wondered if there was some influence there. And I don't think the delivery room scene - which is the one that most reminds me of The Simpsons - is remotely universal...

Munich IS a Universal release! Even if that wasn't the case, Munich came up as a reference in a pop culture way, not in a "let's go see that movie!" way. We got three or four "I wanna go see Spidey!" references, and I think none were necessary. I guess I'm on my own here, but I thought...

I just thought some of the bits reminded me a LOT of Simpsons segments, especially when Ben takes charge in the delivery room. I'm not claiming Up ripped off the series, but I thought some of those parallels were really close. So does anybody have a rational explanation for all the Spidey 3...

Oh, and is it just me, or did the story seem to borrow heavily from a couple of Simpsons episodes where Marge got pregnant?

Saw this last night and enjoyed it, though it's definitely a "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" movie. LOTS and LOTS of problems with it, and it's way too damned long, but it still ends up as enjoyable, funny and endearing. What was up with all the Spider-Man 3 references???
