I don't give a rip about the prequels or The Force Awakens. If I can get a quality pressing of the UNALTERED OOT on blu-ray, I will be happy. For me, the story starts with Star Wars (not Episode IV) in 1977 and ends with Return of the Jedi (not Episode VI) in 1983.
I would take a 2k scan of the original trilogy IPs in a heartbeat. Perhaps there is a relatively clean copy of a 35mm print in a private collection which could have a 4k scan performed on it? I don't even know if it's possible to do a 4k scan and restoration off a 35mm film strip.
Besides the "Bring my shuttle" and "Nooooo!" lines, the stupid music video in Jabba's palace, Greedo shooting/Han's magic head dodge, Han meeting Jabba in Mos Eisley and replacing Sebastian Shaw in the end of RotJ, other scenes which bother me badly enough that I refuse to watch the SEs:

I only own episodes IV - VI on the "bonus feature" non-enhanced DVDs (I recently got rid of my laserdiscs when my player died) because that is the Star Wars I grew up with and love. The Lucasized revisions are absolute rubbish, in my opinion. I have said it before and I will say it again, if the...
If it's from the "faces" set, I have that. Since my laserdisc player died, it's been languishing in a cool, dark closet with it's brothers, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and it's red-headed step-cousin, the Japanese import of The Phantom Menace.
All the changes bother me because I grew up on the original versions of these movies. It's like if the French were to suddenly put a mustache on the Statue of Liberty. It all irks me to no end.
Having an HD transfer of the OOT as an extra would be the only way I would buy the Lucasized SE versions on Blu. Even then, the special editions would never be played.
The unaltered versions are the only ones I want. I know of a few people who don't care one way or the other but I don't personally know anyone who believes the OOT shouldn't be released.
The only way I'll ever buy the OT is if I can get the unLucasized theatrical versions, warts and all. That's part of what makes it so great. I skipped on the current BD release and will keep playing my 'faces' LDs until the day it happens. Heck, I don't even want extras. I would gladly plunk...
