Precisely. The PS3 does not have 5.1 analog outs. I am fully aware that no HD-DVD player does DTS-MA, not even my HD-A1 but since there are quite a few titles with it on BD, it is a deal-breaker for me.
The PS3 doesn't have the features I need from a player so it's out and the BD50 is not released yet (and too expensive when it finally is), therefore HD-DVD (however dead, obsolete and inconvenient for you) is still the best option for me.
Jack Ryan collection cancelled... That sucks! You'd think since the sets were already ready to hit the market (for a 2nd time), they would at least want to recoup some money that was spent on manufacturing, etc... It seems mind-numbingly stupid for a company to throw away cash like that. Looks...
Sounds like the article writer was not only pro BD but anti-MS and HD-DVD (and just about everything else not branded SONY) from the get go and had an agenda to press. Some of it sounds true but much of it sounds like baseless ranting and anti-MS rhetoric.
I just hope the Jack Ryan collection is still released on HD-DVD since it's already packaged and ready to ship. Twister would be nice too, but I'm not holding my breath.
I really do hope a lot of HD-DVD software goes on clearance. Even at $12-15, I am holding back on a lot of titles I already own on SD, but might pick up if they dropped to $5-7. I, too would be tempted to pick up a 2nd HD player to use in the bedroom and act as a replacement should my HD-A1...
