It does also provide some premise for the good guys to learn how to work as a team. The way things were before it came down to Peter v. Sylar, but that was only interesting for a little while. I think it's more intriguing to see several coordinate their skills and powers to bring down one.
Well, after everything that's happened pedestrian is still an improvement, though that's mostly for those of us who have stuck around wanting to like the show again. You may be right about those who have long abandoned it.

That sounds very promising. I did love the relation of each person's powers to their character (e.g. Peter being a nurse and acquiring other powers via "empathy").
