With the size of the room I didn't expect anything from an 8" sub. I'd be interested in what Craig's thoughts are w/o it.

The specs given for the STF-1 and the 550s are only 8Hz apart. An 8' sub ain't going to do much in a room that big no matter who makes it. The differences Craig describes aren't limited to bass differences.

Yep that would work. Possible baffle effect for both.

My only suggestion is change the Rocket to being the inside speakers and the Ascend to the outside for a listening session or two. My tv went in the shop a while back and I was shocked at the improvement in imaging w/o it between the speakers. It would be interesting if your imaging thoughts...
