Damn this is funny. That having been said, it was pointed out on SIRIUS NFL Radio today that it's likely he gets cut next year. If that's the case, he has another problem.. his NFL suspension will not start until he is signed with another team. You can't serve a suspension when you aren't...
Wow, have no idea what thread to put this under, except it's bad news for any team.. but maybe good news for Atlanta http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3037175 Vick gets busted with Pot while on pre-sentencing probation, which can muck up his plea deal which occurs December 10...
He can't be tried for the same charges. And he won't be. The feds are accepting a plea on the matter of gambling. He will have never went to a trial in the case of animal abuse or state tax evasion and violation of state animal laws. Since he was never tried in front of a jury on those...
Part of it though is that federal prosecutors receive his commitment to testimony and "name names" Vick is to provide a list of other brokers and those who sponsored events his kennel attended to the government.
Vick is looking at 18 months as a recommended (no parole) which would mean, given NFL suspension due, he'd have three years of no play, with a potential return in 2010. The Falcons, however, may have caught a break, because they may be eligible to cut Vick without a big cap hit under the new...
Michael Vick received some good news. He will be honored for his efforts as "an outstanding human being" but the SCLC. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/13815031/detail.html So, at least not all have forsaken him :)
Whoopsie... someone decided to take a plea agreement before Vick gets to the courthouse. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20003231/ So, someone is cutting a plea to flip on Vick. That's not necessarily good for his case.
Gruden figures he needs at least 1/4 of all of his signed players to be QB. That way, he can convert them into kickers or linemen or whatever.. I have no idea. As a Bucs fan for years, I'm kind of emberrassed at what has happened to our franchise. Yeah, we got Gruden, and a SB, which I'm happy...
NFL teams can drop anybody for any reason. Tank Johnson wasn't convicted of the reasons he was dropped from Chicago. Several NFL players have been canned for all sorts of reasons. They don't need a conviction, though they would prefer to avoid the cap hit.
Oddly, it appears as though the Tennessee Titans are the ones putting some pressure in to have Vick get suspended. They basically contend: hey, pacman wasn't convicted but the accusation was enough to get him suspended; what's good for the goose....
ESPN, but the link above works. Nike will not recall product, but they will not issue new product. They are according to ESPN, in talks to "opt out" of the Mike Vick business.
God, the line "I underthrew him a bone.." damn, that's cold. Cruel, but creepily funny. And this is when it gets bad:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2941489 Peta, All Sharpton, Russel Simmons, and other groups all ask the Falcons to distance themselves from Vick? Argh...
I'm still wondering how long until some team revives "WHO LET THE DOGS OUT" when Vick appears in their stadium this year... have to check the schedule and see if they play the Iggles.
Here's the killer:
In other words, Feds got first party witnesses they flipped on a deal. Worse, they are tossing around the term "illegal gambling enterprise" which means while this multi-part indictment is for these charged, prosecution of them is likely to result in a IRS investigation...
I'm waiting to hear how this plays on local radio.. Maas left a bad taste in the mouth of the sports leader here in KC, when he bolted mid contract to jump ship to a new-sports station which has since tanked in the ratings. Then last year, he dissappeared from 610, and there was all this talk...
Worse & Worse. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19118741/page/2/
Apparently the reason why the Feds have taken over the case is because they believe they have multi-state evidence of organized gambling participation/organization (RICO).
Vick situation is not only not going away, it just got MUCH worse for Vick, as Federal agents swarm his house and execute a federal warrant, taking over the case. (Surry county had only a part time prosecutor, which is a lot easier for Vick with money to out-lawyer.. feds aren't as easy to sway)...
We have a winner. Informants have come forward, it's been announced.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html Due to a technical error in the warrant, the DA wanted to make sure all i's dotted, t's crossed before executing, because WAVY says he believes there will be...
Press is all over the Vick thing. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/13413855/detail.html
http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/...in-dog-fights/ The Humane Society reward is small, but word is that a very LARGE reward is coming from others who fear that players/others would gladly match the...
Humorous article on Clinton Portis' interview. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6836960?MSNHPHMA If Dallas is IN the SB, yeah, I could see 100,000.. then again, it's 2011.. I'd find it bitter irony if somehow, by some miracle, the Houston Texans could get there :)
No. I have a family member who is an AKC breeder and one who is a vet. Rape stands are not used for any animal other then fighting animals. Pure breds are handled naturally or artificially (think turkey baster) if there is an issue. The "Rape Stand" is designed to make sure that the breeding...
Humane Society and others have evaluated the dogs and they've clearly been trained for fighting. Because of their age/training, they can never be adopted, and all 66 animals will have to be euthanized after the trial: http://www.wtkr.com/Global/story.asp...8&nav=0oaAUlVC
BTW, just so it can be clarified: A Rape Stand is a stand that forces a female dog into a position where her front legs and head are tied to a bar and her rear legs are forcibly held apart. Because the dogs are difficult to manage, this "rape stand" forces the dogs to "hold the position" so...
Vick situation updates. http://www.ajc.com/falcons/content/s.../0521vick.html
Now that they know what the evidence is, basically, watch the animal-rights groups jump continue to push, I can see clips going out "he let dogs with broken legs wander around and suffer while providing them no...
Hmm. Well, while Vick's running from Dog Fighting, Clinton Portis says "big deal" and offers to take people to a dog fight on WAVY interview.. (??) Anyone talk to him beforehand?? http://coveringtheredskins.blogspot....said-what.html Now the Redskins get to have the PR spin go full bore :)...
indictment. FYI, if on Monday they let Vick go on all the majors, he will still receive summons for lesser events which do not constitute a felony but which he will have to pay fines on.
