I think they intone this a couple of times.. Mace says something to the effect that the Sith will "never again" return to power; and the Emporer clearly states "Once again, the Sith will rule and peace.." and so on. So, at one point in the past, the Sith did have the power, and were...
Uh, yeah, it's cheap, but remember, they are using Skywalker Studios, and others all at cost, rather then at markup which other movies have to pay.. which is a big way to lower your cost of SFX.
Ok, talk about minor nitpicky, but I've noticed this everytime: Anakin & Obi Wan fighting; the lava shoots up behind them and covers half of the bridge thing they are fighting on, meaning they can't turn back.. They hide on opposite sides of the pillar as the lava flow comes; It snaps...
Your right, wow. I guess I lost track too ;) Since two of my bigger clients work in the film industry, it's so easy to get tickets & go, I don't even hardly think about it..
Seen it four times now. Midnight (by myself) noon the next day (office friends) Thursday night (with my wife) Friday afternoon (with everyone from an office that's a client) Saturday night (with my oldest son)
What's great about this thread is the dialog; you know, if someone would have told me a week before the release of ROTS that this thread would be about 90% positive (or more) I would have shook my head in total disbelief. :) I guess that's a good sign for George, that so many people can...
Actually, that kind of formula (assessing for weight) would be entirely off; it's far more complex then that... you have to figure the grip/way in which the rider or other thing is attached, the motion of that actor as well, the other area values, etc. In other words: it's -very- complex...
See, I thought this was about right.. Anakin raised the question to Mace, which was a difficult one: by killing the emporer, what makes you any better then he is? This is not the typical monologuing by a demonic bad guy, because an outside questioner is raising the heckles of: why not just...
I think one of the things Obi Wan did, though, was to seperate all that he cared about in Anakin as the man who was Luke's father; that he sired Luke before he turned to the dark side, and that he was Obi-Wan's "brother" and that he cared for him.. He seperates that from who he became after...
I thought the same; it improved significantly on a second/third viewing ;) Though tonight, watching it with friends (a fantastic theater experience, great film, great sound) we were in front of a group of about 15 girls.. which somewhat suprised me at first.. and near the end of the movie...
But do you think, in an intersting turn (I tried to go through the religious aspect a few pages back, but adding to that) that Anakin's turn to the dark side and elimination of the Jedi helped return a stagnant (arrogant, as it's put by Palpatine) Jedi order back to where it belongs? That maybe...
I think Chewy would have far better ground to blame Lando (who literally sold him out) then someone who wasn't present. Chewy accepted Lando back by ROTJ, so..
"When I left you I was but the learner now I am the master." No, I think that was dead on. I think looking at it through the lens of the PT, he's pointing out that when he left Obi-Wan, he was not a master, not acknowledged by anyone (especially the jedi counsel, which refused that honor)...
Actually, I thought that was perfect, one of the better tie ins. Earlier, Anakin tells Palpatine that the Jedi are good.. and Palpatine argues that "good" is only but a point of view. Having him argue that back to Obi Wan was a sign of how he took in what Sideous had to say and accepted it as...
Why? I mean, if you didn't enjoy it, that's fine, everyone has an opinion. I don't fault those who don't like the film, that's fine for them; some do, some don't. I always tell people, look through my YMDB list, and odds are you'll see films that maybe you didn't care for or don't know anything...
*laugh* a local tech company here in town closed their doors this afternoon after most of the technical staff asked for the afternoon off... so don't think you're alone!
Realize, though, the council votes as a democracy; and Obi Wan is also on the Council, he trusted Anakin. More then that, there are many on the council who believed Anakin to be "the one". So, the opinion of the whole vs. the opinion of the few. Anakin was close to Palpatine, and he did have...
Here's a side theory: Darth Plagious was behind Anakin, not Sideous; Plagious was also Sifa Dias, the Jedi who ordered the clones to begin with (theory); or Sifa Dias was one of his pupils. I find that more in line with the way I perceived it and the natural elements (the heart, etc.) of...
I didn't (don't) think so.. in fact, as Sideous points out, only one had ever learned that (in the end).. I always felt as though Sideous' attempt at creation of life was Grievous; his twisted and malformed-nature as an effect of Sideous' attempts.
Agreed. I think that scene really setup something that, seeing it a third time (yes, once a few weeks back, once last night, once today) I've pondered a lot more.. Anakin spent most of the movie pondering moral certainties.. it had to be "good" or "evil" and when there were chinks in the Jedi...
I think, though, that was one of the things I really liked; some of the Jedi went down fighting; some where taken by suprise by the turn of their own troops, leaving them trapped.. I thought that was very good.
Same thought here. Big applause and cheers after the showing I was present for. Some of the SW geeks directly next to me were unhappy with the "comedy" elements, and I was reminded of the conversation I had before the film with them and others.. as everyone praised the films and shows they...
No problem :) You might go back and read your review of AOTC before you use "Dreck" though. To my review: I managed to see this a few weeks ago, and watched again with a larger audience. Sometimes, I feel as though people expect something different from Star Wars then what it is at it's...
