I'm not sure the standard for floppies nowadays, but back then floppies were released about 4 months before their cover date. So an April cover date actually streeted in January or so.
If memory serves, I was reading the 6-issue marvel adaptation of the original STAR WARS before it hit the screen. I definitely had the novel before the movie opened.
I think I actually meant to type "months" but weeks is probably more accurate. Sometimes I do that, type one word related to another that I really intended. Need to reread my posts more.
I just saw TFA for the sixth and probably final time, at least theatrically. I love the movie. I love the title. I've asked this before, but can someone please explain to me, given the Snoke/Ren scene about "There has been an awakening," what the heck caused them both to sense it, SPECIFICALLY...
I think he felt more like a real character in Empire because of the way the other characters around him were acting. Irvin Kershner was light years ahead of Abrams in developing character and directing actors. All one needs to do is compare the two movies. Empire is superior in every way. But...
I was listening to disc 2 of ROTJ SE and suddenly had a rude surprise--I'd forgotten that many years ago I had modified my iTunes playlist to play the ORIGINAL Ewok Celebration and End Title from the first OST release. I think I will reburn my original CDs to reflect this change in CD quality...
For so long I didn't have a good sound system at home and just played mp3s through my computer speaker, but now that I have the Bose with the CD player, I have started using my CDs again. I love the Star Wars Special Edition Soundtracks that have the discs on each end of the little book and then...
My wive got me the Bose Series IV for Christmas and I have been listening to the CD of the OST to TESB. Wow. I agree with you. If there is a better score, I don't know what it is.
My wife just asked me when we were going to see TFA again. So the movie's got something going on. In the 17 years we have been together, the only other movie she's ever wanted to go back and see so much in the theater was Avatar.
I didn't feel TFA was THAT much of a remake of ANH. Not anymore than ROTJ was (and maybe not as much, since at least TFA had some new twist on the Death Star).
When I first saw DARKNESS, I was exasperated that it was influenced too much by TWOK. However, the second time I saw it, knowing what it was, I was able to enjoy it on its own terms. Is it my favorite ST movie? No. But I can enjoy it for what it is knowing the intent of it: that some things in...
It will be interesting to see if it beats the magic number, what is it? 2.87 billion? The only thing that could hold TFA back is that it doesn't have a love story to draw the ladies back time after time like Titanic and Avatar....
I agree with that. Even if you don't show him physically pulling arms out of their sockets, it can be suggested, and be even more gruesome because we DIDN'T see it, but heard it over someone else's reaction.
Again, this is where Irvin Kershner runs circles around JJ Abrams. In Empire, Chewie...
This is what I hate about dramatic movie and TV time: characters don't react as quickly as they should because of the filmmakers trying to play all sides for drama. Let's get to everyone's reaction shot. And everyone take their turn waiting for their shot. That's how the scene feels.
It's highly likely, but at the end of the day, I believe a movie should stand on its own; we should be able to judge it all by itself, from what is up on the screen.
This was a major flaw in the movie. And it's a great example of why TESB is, and probably always will be, superior to any of the nine episodes. When I saw TFA a second time, I watched to see if maybe they had tried to editorially avoid the problem by keeping Chewie and Leia in separate frames...
Maybe. I'm going to read the novelization. Doubtful, but maybe it will answer the question. I'm two chapters in, and less than thrilled. A.C. Crispin, you are missed....
Star Was movies have always been about repeating motifs, whether it is a single line repeated (I have a bad feeling about this), or Skywalkers losing hands in lightsaber fights, or blowing up big armored weapons. So I never had a problem with it (unlike Star Trek Into Darkness, which needed to...
Leia allegedly remembering her birth mother is about as plausible as Obi-Wan Kenobi seeing R2 in episode IV and not recognizing him immediately.
Both problems come from beginning in media res.
