I liked each of the Prequels progessively better. TPM was so-so, AOTC an improvement, and ROTS a giant leap ahead of both of those. However I went to the theater fewer times as each came out. I saw TPM in the theaters about 16 times, AOTC only abotu 9 times, and ROTS I've seen 5 times and...
I don't recall any of his predictions for either TPM or AOTC. If it's true he didn't downplay AOTC, that's a good point. But I still don't believe uncle George. ;) I guess Lucas has jaded me over the years. Look at what he has preached when we all bitched about Jar Jar and fart jokes. He said...
Although many people think it has negative connotations, by definition propaganda is not inherently bad and does fit here. Anyway... I know neither one of us can prove our assertions about Lucas' true intentions in this matter. I just choose not to believe him in this case. Now on to my...
Where did I say that 'they said it wouldn't make money'? I know that they said ROTS would be the least successful of the prequels. I read all the same propaganda you did from Lucas and McCallum. I just think it was just marketing BS on their part to keep expectations down. I don't believe...
Keep in mind that they were probably just playing mind games-- trying to keep public expectations low so as to make success seem that much more of a surprise. Act like you don't expect your movie to do well, and if it doesn't you can say 'I knew it wouldn't do well, but it's the story I...
It may take until the end of it's run, but it should pass 400 million. AOTC made 101 million AFTER it's initial 3 weeks of release. After 3 weeks of release ROTS only needs 92 million to break the 400 million barrier.
Didn't Yoda lose his lightsaber just before bailing out of the fight? I believe that's the case. If so, you can hardly blame him for leaving. It's not like he left because he was getting his arse kicked. Who wants to take on Palpatine without his lightsaber?
Yeah, that's interesting. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't make that clear and it seems odd each time I see it. Nit-picks aside-- I've only seen the movie twice now and am anxious to get back to another viewing. ROTS turned out to be so much better than I ever hoped. It is so great...
When Obi Wan is watching the security recordings in the Jedi Temple, one of the recordings is of Anakin kneeling down pledging allegiance to Palpatine. Now this took place in Palpatine's office didn't it? If the Jedi have Palpatine's office bugged, why did they need Anakin as a 'spy'? It...
Just got back from my second viewing. After the first viewing, I ranked the movies like this: 9.0 ANH 8.5 ESB 8.0 ROTS 6.5 ROTJ 5.5 AOTC 3.0 TPM With the second viewing, I think it got even better. I think it certainly rivals ANH and ESB. I never thought I would like it that much...
Regarding the fact that the first Death Star appears to take so long to be built versus the second Death Star being built in a matter of a few years, I think it makes perfect sense. Remember, even though Paplatine created the 'First Galactic Empire' in Revenge of the Sith, he still does not...
The awkward steps I didn't have a problem with. As you say, your first few steps are going to be difficult with new legs. The dialogue was what hurt the scene for me. As for Anakin/Padme, I thought the dialogue between them was infinately better than AOTC. There were really no 'cringe'...
For me, if they would have just removed his line 'What have I done?' or whatever it was the scene would have been much better. The Frankenstein scene was by far the worst for me. Although, overall, I loved the film. Certainly the best of the prequels and I even think better than Jedi...
