Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Stephen, I caught it. I planned on watching a few minutes because I figured it would be cropped. To my delight, it wasn't. It looked absolutely incredible. Here's hoping Lucas won't take his time in bringing out the Saga on one of the high-def formats like he did with standard definition.

Yeah, if Vader had just completely trashed the place, we all would have been saying, "wow, that was awesome, Vader looked like a complete badass." Obviously, this isn't the case though. He's pathetic, broken. Nothing like the character we've always known. 19 years of regret and self-loathing...

 I also nominate Mace's PIMP Jedi Starfighter as a highlight of the Clone Wars series.

A lot of people pointed to the fact that there's very little LFE when Anakin crashes Grevious's ship at the beginning. I'll admit that it didn't sound like I expected, but I wouldn't say that ROTS doesn't have a good amount of LFE.

But if they want to honor "original" work, why nominate two films that have had film incarnations before in KK and WOTW?

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Yeah, those new Unleashed are the "Battle Packs." Surprisingly, I haven't given in and started collecting these too. They're nice, but I prefer the old Unleashed, and rumor has it that they're coming back later this year. I sure hope so because the Unleashed Shocktrooper Hasbro showed is pretty...

I want an SVS so bad. Probably my next upgrade, but it's going to be a while, unfortunately. And I'll have to agree with Chuck about Sin City also deserving a nomination. That movie's look is key to its atmosphere and style, and couldn't have been acheived without great VFX work. We'll just...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Well, I guess I was trying to say that my defense of ROTS getting the shaft would come off as sounding like the ravings of a fanboy, and it really wouldn't bring much to the table. That said, ROTS should have gotten a nomination, and maybe should have won. If not for just this film, but the...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I've stayed out of this whole thing just because there's no way I can be objective about Star Wars. I'm just too nuts about it. That, and I haven't seen Narnia. I just wanted to point out that only Star Wars could spark this much internet debate. Especially TPM. ;)

That Clone Wars Gunship is already up for pre-order at Amazon. Put in my order a few days ago. Most of the time, I end up finding stuff in stores before my Amazon order ships, but it never hurts to have something to fall back on.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Yeah,I wouldn't try out ROTS first. It has no bass whatsoever, didn't you hear? ;) Just kidding. Congrats on the sub. I hope to have an SVS someday!

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

It's a shame that didn't make it into the movie period. My only real problem with the entire movie was that.

I think, if I recall correctly, she's been taken prisoner by Grevious because she actually boarded The Invisible Hand (Grevious's ship) before Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Yeah, those pics make me a lot more excited to the Shaak Ti death. Even though I still think it would have been better had Anakin done the deed. That way, he would have offed a big-name Jedi.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I think they should, as that's the point, I think, of Obi-Wan and Yoda's final arc. I think that the final scene with the spirts reflects Anakin's atonement, but is also Yoda and Obi-Wan's way of saying, "yeah you were right all along." This may belong in the Saga thread, but I think ROTJ...

I really wish it could have made the 400 million mark, but it looks like it's going to fall short with a still respectable number.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Yep, it's finished right where I would expect it to within the PT itself, as I never thought for a minute that it wouldn't outgross AOTC. The Vader factor alone pretty much guaranteed that. And of course no movie will ever have the hype of TPM, so one couldn't expect ROTS to challenge that.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I can actually see the logic in Yoda and Obi-Wan splitting up. Had they double-teamed Palpy, Yoda seems pretty certain it would have turned into a one-on-one confrontation pretty quickly, as Obi-Wan would have been dispatched. And if they tried to go after Anakin first, there's no guarantee that...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I really like the music of the second scene involving Padme and Anakin...it sets a very bittersweet tone, which is exactly what it should do, as the scene itself is very bittersweet. This is the a happy moment, yet we know that this happiness will soon be consumed by the darkness ahead, and the...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Well, I can confirm that we never see Obi-Wan take Leia, but for some reason the editing and pacing of the scenes initially made me think that is Leia crying, and pretty much everyone I've seen the movie with thought that. I've paid close attention to this scene the last few times. Maybe Lucas...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

I've heard both...some people think he's holding Leia, some think he's holding Luke. The first few times I saw it, I figured it was Leia, just because it seemed sort of logical, with the crying and all. In fact, I'm sure I made a post similar to Phil's way back in this thread somewhere. But...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Yeah, I would say Yoda "lost" because he did bail out; however, I think he bailed out because he realized backup would be arriving at any moment, as the scene with the clones later shows. One thing that hasn't really been brought up is just how much Yoda forsees in ROTS. We see one shot of...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

In my opinion, the missing Qui-Gon and Yoda's scene (for whatever reason) is the worst cut in this film, even moreso than the formation of the Rebel Alliance (which is also very sorely missed). The first time I saw the movie, I half-expected Qui-Gon's ghost to appear behind Yoda, but it was just...

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Yeah, I know what you're saying there, Greg. I think Palpatine was kind of playing on the guilt Anakin expressed in that earlier scene after killing Dooku. Palpatine probably remembered that, and it could have possibly factored in his decision to take Mace out. Of course, as others have...
