Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I doubt we ever see any of the main DCEU or MCU films anything but PG-13 theatrically. They need the younger audience. (And I fully believe that if they had released the 3-hr BvS theatrically as the only version they would have tweaked it slightly to be PG-13)

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I justify it by believing Superman is smart. Batman already mocked his parents (thinking non-Earth beings) so saying "my Mom" wouldn't have done a thing for Batman. However, trying to get him to realize a human was in trouble might. And then you get the coincidence triggering things further. I...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I don't think that people who dislike the Martha scene fail to understand it, but rather that they sell it short. Yes, it's a little cute and convenient, but like was said above, it's merely the hook of the scene. The real impact comes from Batman seeing himself as Joe Chill. Maybe they should...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

They get some good shots in (they're trailers always make me chuckle), but mocking the Martha scene for being something it never actually was and ignoring the central concept of Batman's psyche in the scene has become low hanging fruit, IMO.

Well, we'll just have to disagree on that.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I think what people are inspired by plays a big factor. I get inspired by seeing my heroes pushed to the edge and still overcoming in the end (Snyder's approach).

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

There's really only two differences in the first 10 minutes of the film that they put online: 1. The extra shot of the gun in Martha's face, 2. The additional children at Wayne Financial.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I've seen it. Here's the deal - if one's issues with the film are centered on the directions they took the characters or story in principle then the UE won't win you over. By this I mean people who don't like a Superman who is confronted with a public that questions his heroism, or a Batman that...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

It's from the EW photo shoot, and was the cover of the magazine. Even though I'll probably rarely watch the 3D version since its only the Theatrical Cut, I'm glad that release has the poster art of the two title characters fighting.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Well, the difference this time is that every release includes both cuts. I believe the releases of Watchmen and Sucker Punch were seperate. There just seems to be more of an emphasis to make sure everybody gets the UC.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I think it's an acknowledgment that whatever execs demanded they cut down the movie by 30 minutes 6-8 weeks before release really screwed things up. This UC with just a couple minor trims for violence is likely the version Snyder really intended everyone to see, but like he said in one interview...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I quite like the film yet I think overstuffed and muddled is a fair criticism. It's a film with a lot of moving pieces without the runtime to accomodate it. This is the primary reason most of us want to see the intended 3-hr cut. It needs breathing room. I'm not saying every element that people...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I have a few takes on it. One, Affleck was brought in to kick the series into another level. Once he fully committed to being Batman in a solo Batman film, and also took on screenwriting and directing duties for it, then being an Executive Producer for the DCEU was somewhat inevitable. Batman...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I don't know. I think 99% of people do exactly what that family does, which is to not run towards the heat beam being shot at you. They can't go back, or to their right (beams) or to the left (blocked off by debris), and going forward is also death (beams). Seems rather natural to me.
  15. Brandon Conway

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Zod pretty much says that the family in front of him is representative of what he'll do to every human on the planet. "If you love these people so much, you can mourn for them." Superman has no idea who these random people are, so Zod clearly means "these people" = all people, not the specific...

And if one doesn't like the way those concepts are conveyed I can totally understand that. What I don't get is when people say those concepts aren't there, as though those of us who enjoy them and the way they are conveyed are somehow making it all up.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Just finished reading this take on Superman's character arc in the two films. It mostly conveys why I love this approach as much as I do. http://screenrant.com/batman-v-superman-best-story-movie/?utm_source=SR-FB-P&utm_medium=Social-Distribution&utm_campaign=SR-FB-P And while I was ignoring...

Speaking of which.... Now this includes robots and anyone hit in the head with his shield being assumed as dead, but still.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

That was part of my point: it's a leap of logic to say Robin is a murderer based on his weapon. Several super heroes have potentially lethal weapons and yet don't kill, such as Hawkeye. But if one judged Hawkeye before we saw him in Thor by the standard Robin is being judged here, it would be...

I don't need to waste my time responding to you. You've told me exactly zero information I didn't know already. You are now on my ignore list so you won't see me respond to you again. Feel free to do the same to me.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I know Batman and Superman quite well. I don't need a lecture from you in order to like multiple interpretations of the characters. So, don't talk down to me like I'm your inferior just because you have different tastes than I do. I like several comic variations of Batman, and several movie...

Also, there's a difference in the concept art being discussed in that article, and what is actually in the film: http://i.imgur.com/8CHBcip.png We've seen the weapon in this shot since the July 2014 comic con trailer. Why is this coming up now?
  23. Brandon Conway

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Yep. I think we need to go back to our super heroes swinging sausage links and loafs of bread like in TMNT 2. Put away your guns, Black Murder Widow. Those explosives in your suit make you culpable, Iron Murder Man. By the Murderously Capable Hammer of Thor, I dub thee Murder Thor. This petty...
  24. Brandon Conway

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

That seems like a major stretch of logic. Ninja Turtles have bladed weapons. Iron Man has explosives. Thor's hammer. People need to accept that the vast majority of super heroes have weapons that could kill multiple people.
  25. Brandon Conway

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

I'd say no. Even people who didn't like the movie seem to have increased their interest for more Batman and Wonder Woman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

As Travis said, I always thought most films had a 4-hr rough cut. They obviously never intend to have them be that long.
  27. Brandon Conway

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

And I agree with you there. I'm sure they wanted it to make $1 billion because that's the shiny new number for success.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Besides, I think they'll make more of profit vs. cost with Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. Those probably cost $125m-150m each to make, and I expect both will make over $500m WW each. BvS has overall helped interest in those films (due to the reception of Batman and Wonder Woman in BvS). This is...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

If Man of Steel with a $225m budget and $668m box office could be considered profitable enough to go full tilt into a DCEU slate of films, than BvS with a $250m budget and $800m+ box office will certainly be profitable to them.
  30. Brandon Conway

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Exactly. It's currently the 14th highest grossing film in WB history.
