Justin 12 gauge is overkill unless you are going to run more than 50 feet to a speaker. 14 is more than adequate, and for runs up to 40 feet, 16 gauge is fine. If you can wire your entire system with only 50 feet of wire, 16 gauge is more than adequate. 16 gauge can easily handle 1200 watts...

Seth I don't see 14 gauge lamp cord at Home Depot. Where do you get your 14 gauge? BTW, from what I have heard, 16 gauge should be fine for runs of up to 40 feet. Thanks

Justin Go to Home Depot and get 100 feet of 16 gauge lamp cord. I prefer white, but you might like brown.
