I've seen another interview where this is talked about a little more, but I don't remember where. In any case, MGM obviously didn't flat-out refuse to let Devlin and Emmerich do the series, they wanted to see what they'd do with it ("audition" for it) at which point Devlin & Emmerich walked away.
They clearly bought more than just distribution rights... That's not my point though. All I wanted to say was that I find the idea that MGM somehow "stole" the rights to Stargate to be pretty silly.

As a pretty serious SG-1 fan, this worries me because 1) it will obviously walk all over the continuity of the TV shows and 2) it means Brad Wright & co. won't get to do the SG-1 based movie(s) they've been wanting to make since forever. :frowning: Also, I think it's pretty sad to see...
