Sansweet scares me. No new transfer, but they made "Han shoots" buttons and cards, and put Lego commercials on the discs, and put out bad Disney-Aladdin 2-style trailers aimed at soccer moms . Classy!

The worst part is this whole "we have no plans to restore the originals". It's basically meant to scare you into buying this thing. "Just be glad you got this, nerds. Now reserve your tickets for the 30th anniversary swap meet and buy a lot of exclusive crap." Thanks.

I guess I'm buying them because I'd rather have a kinescope of the originals than a hi-def copy of the specials. It was reported that Lucas has a technicolor print of Star Wars in his archives. I ventured over to read some all-star wars websites, and some of those dudes are scary. It's like a cult. The Leader is always right, never speak ill of The Leader. They are "the fans" we keep hearing about, and they don't care, average people don't care, who's left? Man it's lonely over here.

Could someone explain exactly what it takes to release a regular, no-frills anamorphic dvd of a movie from that era? For example, just glancing at my shelf I see 10 dollar dvds of Blow Out and Scanners. What are the steps that make up the pipeline for something like that? thanks

Is it safe to assume most of the potential expense and effort of a new transfer applies only to Star Wars, and not Empire/Jedi? (Maybe they'll think positive and see that 2/3 of the problem is already solved!)
