Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ - General Discussion

Not surprising, but nevertheless interesting, that the shows are not listed in any of the MCU categories. "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." definitely isn't in the same continuity as the MCU, but these Netflix shows are in sort of a nebulous place. Of the series produced by Marvel Television, it looks...

Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ - General Discussion

So now we've got one year of MCU shows on Disney+ under our belts. How would everyone rank them? For me: "WandaVision": I loved the mix of different production styles as Westview leapt through the decades, and I was emotionally invested in Wanda's heartbreaking journey. I also found the...

The neat thing about the various series is that it's a good way for Marvel to give the next generation of heroes a trial run. The ones that audiences really respond to can be "promoted" to the feature films.

Looks great. I love the mix of different multi-camera sitcom styles with the MCU's regular look for the single-camera stuff.

From the Fall 2020 programming press release Disney+ put out today: With the first anniversary of Disney+ on November 12, the service will kick off its second year with even more original entertainment premiering in late 2020 including, but not limited to: “Black Beauty,” a contemporary film...

Wow! I expected footage from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" but not "WandaVision" and "Loki"!

Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ - General Discussion

I'm actually probably most excited about "WandaVision" because it sounds really out there and experimental and weird in a way that Marvel Studios hasn't been in recent years.

More info on both shows from Disney+ Presentation at D23 tonight. Official confirmation that the title character in "Loki" is the version of the character from the 2012 reality who used the space stone to escape. The series will deal with questions of redemption. Kate Herron ("Sex Education")...

Both series officially confirmed by Marvel Studios. "WandaVision" will be coming to Disney+ Spring 2021. It stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Teyonah Parris. Olsen and Bettany are reprising their roles from the feature films. Parris is playing the adult version of Monica Rambeau, played...

Malcolm Spellman is the writer. I'm not sure if these limited series are being produced more like a television series, where the writer has final say, or like a feature film, where the director has final say. I can't say that any of Skogland's work I've seen has stood out as memorably good or...

HBO's greatest strength has always been being a boutique label that has a small, well-curated stable of shows with strong reputations. I think AT&T's desire for higher quantity targeted to a broader audience is ultimately going to backfire.

My guess is that the standalone streaming media devices like Roku, Chromecast, Fire Stick, and Apple TV will all have the Disney+ app available in their channel stores. Implementation for "smart" TVs and "smart" Blu-Ray players will probably vary by manufacturer. But my experience with them is...

Disney's streaming service is planning a Love, Simon sequel series centered around Katherine Langford's character but they're recasting the role. That lends further credence to the rumors that Langford's mystery role in Endgame is Kate Bishop, since the "Hawkeye" series could be one reason...

I haven't read the whole thing, but I really enjoyed what I read. Things I hope they carry over: Grounded villains: Of the six original MCU Avengers, Hawkeye is one of only two unenhanced human beings (assuming that they don't go with a version of Black Widow's backstory where she was enhanced...

Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ - General Discussion

On one hand, I think this is a really smart move; if Marvel wants to sustain the MCU long-term, they need to think intergenerationally. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is one step in that direction, and a Kate Bishop Hawkeye is another. If they take cues from the Matt Fraction/David Aja run of...

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Marvel has hired Captain Marvel screenwriter Jac Schaeffer to write the pilot for "Vision and Scarlet Witch", and serve as showrunner if it gets picked up to series. In addition to her contributions to Captain Marvel, she also wrote the screenplay for...

I'd definitely watch a "Scarlet Witch" series, though I'm surprised Elizabeth Olsen would want to take the downgrade in status for that character. On the other hand, if I were Netflix I'd be pissed since they're only allowed access to the second-tier characters (except for Daredevil).
