Hmm. Thats odd. I don't have a BD-35, but I have a BD30 and a BD50 and I have had no problem playing flippers, but I haven't tried either of these titles, only the Bourne films. I think I have the Jackal, so I will have to try it.
I understand that for some people artwork is a big deal and they will be disappointed with flippers. I have never cared about artwork. For discs that have it, I see it for the 15 seconds it takes to move the disc from the case to the player.
This is all speculation as we haven't seen how Universal will be using these combo discs going forward. Will there be just one SKU for future new releases? Will they use different release windows (like Disney did with Snow White). Those are strategies that make the DVD to DVD/BD combo price...
I don't know if they really care. They made their money on the sale to the retailer. If it drives adoption that's probably a good thing. It has been hard on me adjusting to post holiday BD prices though.
Disney and WB think so. Studios don't spend money without a lot of market research.
I think studios are still playing with pricing. The economy screwed up their initial plans. Have I personally NOT bought a disc because it didn't have the DVD? No, but at the same time there are several...
Keep in mind a few things regarding pricing 1) I am not an economist 2) I don't know what the savings are for only having on SKU for a particular title in the supply chain. There could be a lot of behind the scenes cost savings: marketing, ordering, printing, shipping, manufacturing...
Regardless of if they use this or the 2 disc approach, I really like getting a copy on DVD with the Blu-ray. We have a couple of rooms that don't have BD yet and we spend a week or two out of town at places that only have DVD players. Its nice to have the flexibility to still be able to watch...
The blue ring goes up. The disc is just marked on the one side. There are two rings. The larger is sky blue and says something along the lines of this side up for Blu-ray. There is a smaller black ring that essentially says turn over for DVD. Not sure what you mean. I think yes. The blue...
Yes. I tested on two seperate slot load DVD players and a slot load BD player (not a PS3 which I don't have). The equipment I used is in my first post in this thread.
Sure...Want to send me one /img/vbsmilies/htf/smiley_wink.gif. I don't have one because it doesn't play nice with universal remotes and all my friends were on XBL. Kevin our regular Universal BD reviewer does have a PS3 (non-slim) and will try these out in the next day or so and confirm that...
As to this vs 2 disc DVD/BD sets, I can't speak for Universal as to why they are doing it this way. They just reissued several catalog Blu-rays as two disc DVD/BD combo packs a few weeks ago with little fanfare and they are priced about the same as these flipper discs at Amazon. During the...
I was sent the same two discs that Ron was sent. Please don't read anything into the fact the we didn't receive Bourne Ultimatum. Rather than wait another 2-3 days for it to come in, they sent us the two titles they had. I could pretty much quote Ron's entire post here and say "ditto" as his...
