It all depends on what happens next year. I'm trying to remember how long it took to get over the drubbing by the Bears in 1986. I think the two losses to the Giants would have haunted Patriots fans for however much time passed before the next Patriots win. (I am thinking about the 2003 Red Sox...
The moral of that story? Russell Wilson is no Jimmy Garoppolo! ;)
Incidentally, there's another great fan-reaction video, which is 10 minutes of a room full of Seahawks fans at various points during the game. At the end they're all chanting "BEAST MODE! BEAST MODE! BEAST MODE!" Then they...
No surprise; Bill Simmons posts the single best Super Bowl column:

Scott, I still disagree that it was a risky play call, but I don't disagree that the sequence Richard suggested might have made more sense. :)
I also want to point out (re: Reggie's post) that Butler didn't get "burned" on the previous completion -- he actually knocked the ball away; the...
An interception was *extremely* unlikely on that play. Butler and Browner had to play it absolutely perfectly, with the Seahawks executing not quite perfectly, and that's what happened.
There is some thought that Belichick intentionally let the clock run in order to force the Seahawks to be rushed and make a mistake. It's an interesting idea -- they took a ridiculous amount of time to line up for that last play. Had Belichick stopped the clock, Seattle probably would have run...
Just when I thought there was no rant epic enough to be worthy of spending more time on this nonsense, I found this. :)

Let's travel back in time for a moment, to 2008, and see how Belichick and Kraft responded to the Spygate accusations (emphasis mine):
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3323437
Here's the thing about "Spygate." The Patriots broke a rule, and when they repeatedly did it after being warned, were hit with a brutal penalty (huge fines and the loss of draft picks).
The rule they broke? Having a video guy standing where he shouldn't have been during games. That's it. The...
This comment is spreading like wildfire but I still don't believe it for one second. The world ignored a cheating accusation against the Patriots for two months? Until an identical accusation somehow turned into a massive media circus within 24 hours?
I'll tell you who's full of crap. . .Adam Schefter's "source" who suddenly "revealed" *today* that the Colts complained about underinflated balls when they played the Patriots two months ago. Yeah, I'm sure the "Cheatriots" pulled a sneaky one and NOBODY bothered to mention it until now.
This is pretty disturbing. One thing that I've heard conflicting information about is whether they checked the balls the Colts were using. I'd like to know if they were soft as well.
I see now some are referring to the non-scandal as "Ballghazi." :)

NFL Investigating Whether Patriots Played Game with Properly Inflated Vince Wilfork
I remember before the game Sunday, they were saying 21 teams. :)
I am psyched: NBC has announced that they are going to stream (for free) the entire Super Bowl and surrounding programming, so I'll be able to run the game through my projector onto my garage door. Bring pizza, neighbors! :B)
The allegation came from D'Qwell Jackson, the Colts LB, after he intercepted Brady. Who knows how it got as far as it did.
People will always be ready to believe the worst about Belichick, but he brought it on himself. Of course, I highly doubt that he cares. :)
To be honest, if the Patriots are as healthy as they appear to be, I expect them to put up a lot of points. They just need to establish a running game to slow the pass rush, in which case Baltimore's secondary will not be able to handle their receiving corps. The Steelers didn't have much depth...
The incredible thing is that Edelman never played WR prior to the NFL. He was a QB in high school and college (albeit one who was also his team's leading rusher).
It serves the NFL right for putting games on pay TV. I hope every Thursday night game sucks until they stop this nonsense.
Did you guys know that the NFL Network games are not even broadcast locally? I would've had to go to a bar to watch the Dolphins game last week!
There is some weird network tweaking going on this season -- a few weeks ago, the Patriots-Bills game was on Fox (which meant I couldn't see it, since the Dolphins were hosting the Packers that day and were the regularly scheduled Fox game). It may be related to the night-game protection rules...
The offensive line is terrible, but the defense had an off night (not least because they were out there so much and had several very short fields to defend). The D will be fine, especially once they get Brandon Browner.
On the O side, hopefully the rookies on the line will develop. And I am...
