The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Dang Ricardo, you're fast! ;) I must be a very slow reader as it took me nearly a month. I kept getting distracted, then re-focused, then phone would ring etc... I need to re-read it again soon. But your thoughts are similar to mine. Still, TTT, over time, a long time, really grew on me for...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

My parents dropped by late yesterday evening on their way home to the wonderful state of Louisiana and we watched TTT dvd. My Mom saw it in the theater, but my Dad had not. He wasn't blown away by FOTR....they're getting older and "all those battles one after another wear me out"....:D Well...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

I was away for most of the holiday weekend and can answer some of these dvd questions now: :) Brenton, Yes I was fortunate to know someone who could get me the screener. But after I got mine, I did some checking and these are available at some of online auction sites. However, based on...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

I can't believe I didn't state that in my post! Stupid me! Yes, it's Academy Screener. I've edited it now. What were your impressions of those transfers? This one is a little dark at times, but still looks very good and detailed. And, TTT, has some very grayish tones anyway and the dvd looks...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

This shouldn't be against forum rules as these have been sold/traded on the forum......but I've had the official-non bootleg Academy Screener version of The Two Towers on dvd for about 3 weeks. The video is really good, and the Dolby Digital audio is fantastic! The audio is surprisingly...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Well after about a month with TTT soundtrack I think I can say that I like this one...(gulp) better than the FOTR soundtrack. I thought I would never believe that, but it's true. I know this discussion is somewhat late since the movie's been out since Dec. but I didn't have the cd then! To me...

Thanks for the update Craig! :) And Wow! 43 minutes more?!?! November is a very, very long time from now. BTW, I picked up a pretty cool TT poster this evening. I think it's the final theatrical poster and the same art from the cd cover.

Craig S: Keep us informed if you hear of Howard Shore taking his show on the road to Houston. It's only about 4 hours from me and I'd be there in a heartbeat! Speaking of the TTT soundtrack; Forgive my ignorance but what scene is Track 11: The Leave Taking ? Part of it sounds like the scene...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

At the risk of over-stating a point...I'll do it anyway. I've had TTT cd for a little over a week now and I can't get enough of it. It truly does grow on you and has a easy listenability??? to it. (new word:D ). Just when I think that Forth Eorlingas is the best track; I hear Track #5 Urak-Hai...

Chris stated: "Isengard Unleashed gives me gooebumps." Never had those but I do get goosebumps from time to time! :D I was looking forward to the ROTK trailer at the end of TTT also. But it should be online soon?

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Just picked up the soundtrack to The Two Towers last week and got to hear the whole thing while I traveled this past weekend. An Excellent soundtrack! Strange though: I thought it was effective during the movie but felt the music wasn't as magical or memorable as the wonderful FOTR...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Regarding all the CGI discussion and comparing TTT to AOTC or another recent cgi infested flick: They're all good. Some have some super seamless shots and other times, not so believable. I will say that at least I tend to like the effects of a movie when I enjoy it more or a movie that stirs...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Wanted to share my IMAX experience with TTT late last night. I didn't get home until 3:20 am! Technically Speaking: Surprisingly, the image quality looked the best yet that I've seen. Fairly steady and natural looking images. I will say that at the far ends of the screen when characters...

Now here's something to say "hmmmmmm" over: This is referring to Hollywood couples...What about Taun We and Gollum???? ;) :D Taun We could help him with proper English and enunciation. Gollum could help her with agility exercises. (After all, Taun We walks a little stiff) :D In my sick...

Hey Dennis, I'll be cathing the IMAX version myself tonight in Dallas. Only I hate it that the only time is 11:15pm. Pretty late to get back...especially when I live about 45 miles from Dallas! Matt, There was no president...Taun We had enough neck for all of us. :alien:

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Hey Chuck, Glad you thought Taun We was wonderful...Remember some of us ;) over on that AOTC thread were in love with her. :D in that cgi-alien kind of way.:alien: Gollum was terrific...certainly his scenes in the film looked more demanding than Yoda's however I can't get passed having...

Thoughts on TTT in IMAX? It's playing here in Dallas at the Cinemark IMAX but at 11:15 pm! Pretty late showing. But I am wanting to see it again. Thoughts on the TTT Imax presentation? Thanks! :)

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Alot of good comments here...I agree with MikeRS on this issue however. Does that mean my opinion is right or more valid. No. It just means that I agree with his feeling about the FOTR and TTT almost verbatum. I've said this before and so has Chuck, and others: Our love of film is why we are...

Matt Stone writes: "I just thought that on occasion, Gimli ruined established tension...esp at Helm's Deep. Granted, this is probably a taste thing...but don't jump down my throat for not always liking his comic relief." I have to agree whole-heartedly. For me, some of his lines and "comic...

I've been away most of the day and looks like my question has created a good discussion about Grima's tear. I think I agree with the ones who believe it to be a tear of horror and reality that all hell is about to break loose. I need to see it again...I haven't seen it since Christmas Eve but my...

DonRoeber, I thought the same thing about Wormtongue not knowing about the 10,000 orc army. We are led to believe that he spent most of his time with Theoden...so maybe he didn't know? Also, after he sees the army, a tear rolls down his face. Tear of joy? Sorrow? Tear of Pity for Edoras...

Hey Chuck, I just wanted to say while I don't always agree with your points, but some of yours are "right" ;) I always notice how polite you are in your posts and intelligent you sound. Seems like you think, before you lash out a comment. You appear to be objective even when this is about a...

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Regarding some of the of cgi shots: I agree with you Dennis that some of these looked pretty bad. Some are terrific too. But the worst one is the shot of Legolos walking down shooting one of the Isenguard Wolves. He looks like he's walking on a treadmill. Pretty bad. ESB did have ALOT more...

Kim D, I think the dialogue was "looped" in very low recording wise if that's the right term??? I've seen this 3 times and the last time it was better...but still difficult to hear at times. I noticed the dialogue was louder during the final hour or so than the first hour.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Anyone seen this in an IMAX theater yet??? It's playing here at the Cinemark IMAX in Dallas and I am tempted. I'm sure it will be "letterboxed" for lack of a better term. I also wonder how difficult it would be to see images that close for 3 hours? It would be great sound though. On a downer...
