A moment of silence for all the folks who paid a ton of money for the Rogue Squadron comic books from the 90's after this was announced. They were never going to be the basis for the movie and nothing from them would have been likely to have been used but for some reason, the prices went through...
And given what I've seen of the talents of Gadot & Jenkins and the marketplace, I fear that this version of Cleopatra would be some silly ahistorical action movie where she's leading an army and engaging in hand to hand combat with male generals rather than a drama based on historical fact.
When was the last time a "sword and sandal" movie was actually a hit? I guess Troy did OK 15 or 20 years ago but I don't think anyone is going to care about a Cleopatra movie in today's market. Then again, I thought the same basic thing about Titanic in 1996/97 so what do I know?
If they hadn't had so many behind the scenes problems on nearly every other SW movie, I'd agree but I think between that and the fact that all the Marvel stuff had to get moved back, I think they'll keep her.
I don't know if there's any plans for a SW movie announcement for Disney + Day...
It's the name of Luke's snowspeeder fighter group in The Empire Strikes Back. It's also the name of some great video games where you get to fly around blowing up the Empire in Rebel ships.
