well its promoted as a 4K scan from Paramount but of what ?
tonnes of fine film grain with high bit rate encoding. Very detailed picture.
dual mono audio is clear with the occasional crackle or thump
but , unsurprisingly, there has been no attempt at clean up : lots of scratches , emulsion...
Gatsby. I hope ""lovingly restored" has some meaning this time
By the way for fans of the Original The Odd Couple film (1968) with Walter Matthau / jack Lemon the Imprint Version has a high bit rate transfer but the real winner here is the inclusion of the original mono track (missing on...
sadly it doesn't look like a scan of the OCN, its hardly an upgrade over the olive edition . In motion you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference from your chair
found the Olive Edition from 2012. using 2 Oppo 205's on a pioneer Kuro KRP500m heres what im seeing
- The Imprint transfer is tighter , slightly richer colours , a pinch more grain and slightly better greyscale and contrast. I emphasise slightly. Audio is serviceable on the Imprint.

watched The Rose Tattoo, and Come back Little Sheba . Both touted as coming from 4k masters . They look excellent and the sound quality is great as well . Burt Lancaster can play just about anything .
imprints The Counterfeit Traitor with William Holden is a disgrace.
how a company can take a 1980’s era master from Paramount and slap it on a disc and call it a Blu ray is criminal . Scratches, blurry, wrong colours, consistent film damage . It’s appalling.
As Ken said, RAGE , is a pretty good suspense film . Reminds me of Wages of Fear somewhat.
sure wish Sony one day scans this anew as it’s a great film. Only the opening titles and end credits are soft and scratched , the rest of the film looks pretty good as captured on Beaver
Who knows , might get to the stage where enthusiasts, many of us in our twilight years, will have to start a Go Fund Me page for a boutique label like arrow or criterion to pay for Paramount to release up to date masters. It’s sad to see so many young folk prejudiced against films because...
I spoke with the bloke in Melbourne who runs VIAVISION out of Melbourne regarding the provenance of the masters sent to them from paramount. He said paramount have not revealed any details Viz a viz 4k scans , 2 k scans , interpositives, what era they came from . Nada .
picked these up today
The War of the Worlds looks good with many scenes retaining film grain
but unfortunately Sorry , Wrong number is a disgrace . May not be Via Visions fault because of what survives of this film and the master given to them
what we have here is a horribly digital , harsh...
