International Via Vision Entertainment announces new premium Blu-ray label IMPRINT

100% - if you’re watching a show where a giant white balloon enforces discipline and you’re a viewer that’s then completely shocked that it had a finale that wasn’t straightforward, I feel that’s a little on the viewer for not accepting what the show has been saying it was from the start. In...

What’s the best domestic (U.S.) source for ordering Imprint if I’d like to get in on some Prisoner action? I missed the previous sets and wouldn’t mind owning this at a reasonable price.

I think you may have misread. There is not a new extended version of Lynch’s Dune. The “new extended version” refers to the making-of documentary that first appeared on Koch’s German release of the film. The extended version of Dune that’s included on the disc is the TV version that was...

International Via Vision Entertainment announces new premium Blu-ray label IMPRINT

I don’t think there’s much to be baffled by if you look at it that it’s a small, local label serving a local market (Australia) bringing titles to that market that they believe they can sell in that market. These releases aren’t really intended for us here in the U.S., nor are they meant to...

International Via Vision Entertainment announces new premium Blu-ray label IMPRINT

I don’t think they’re indifferent; I think the more likely truth is that their market share and audience size is so small that they simply do not make the kind of revenue from their disc releases that would put them in a position to “insist” on fresh scans.

Some of these masters simply won’t be redone - they’re not state of the art restorations but reasonably accurate reflections of the state of the film elements available. There simply isn’t enough money in the world to finance six and seven figure restorations, or even five figure digital...

I’m sure Conquest of Space is the same HD master that I have from iTunes but I like the movie enough that I’d double dip for the bonus features - I can’t imagine Criterion picking it up in the U.S.

Absolutely not, vote with your wallet and support the stuff that meets your needs and don’t support that which doesn’t - I would never suggest otherwise. But I just don’t think it’s realistic to expect that every master will be updated in perpetuity. At some point, you look at the numbers and...

International Via Vision Entertainment announces new premium Blu-ray label IMPRINT

These are by and large the same transfers that have been distributed to streaming storefronts for purchase in the US - if you want to see what it looks like before you buy, try renting it on iTunes or Vudu. As to whether or not Paramount should provide them, I’m not sure there’s a solution that...
