I forgot to come back here and update you guys, but on February 13th I received an email from Apple Feedback regarding the loss of being able to use my Pioneer USB drive after upgrading to 13.2 stating “There are changes in the latest update, build 22D68 (macOS Ventura 13.2.1), that may have...
Nelson, the setting doesn't work that way (though it would be cool if it did). The episode ordering setting just tells Plex which list to use, the broadcast order or production order when importing the episode information.
For example if you labelled the shows in production order, episode 2...
Just a warning to the Mac users here who also use a Pioneer UHD drive, don't upgrade to Ventura 13.2. I did and now my Mac isn't able to use the drive. Pioneer is aware of the problem.
Important notice: We have confirmed that our optical drives are not recognized by macOS Ventura 13.2 released...
Thank you very much, @Mark McSherry . Based on your post I went ahead and purchased the Pioneer drive. It was delivered today so I tested it out and yes, it did indeed successfully rip the Conquest of Space Imprint blu-ray that my LG UHD drive couldn't. Glad to verify that the disc itself wasn't...
I didn't mean to imply I didn't believe you. Just bummed that it didn't work for me. Not sure if it is the drive I am using or that the discs Josh and I have just cannot be read.
I just installed the MakeMKV software on a Windows laptop I have here and plugged in my USB UHD drive to it, but NO go. It spins and makes the same noises as on the Mac, the only difference is it doesn't spit it out after a few minutes, it just stops spinning and then MakeMKV says there is no disc:
It’s a blu disc. I don’t think it is an issue with the software. I think that the OS doesn’t recognize that the disc has readable data. That’s why it gets spit out.
I am not sure what you mean by “black disc”.
I have the exact same problem with that disc. I am bummed to hear that your replacement disc had the same issue.
I had no issue with Marooned, The Osterman Weekend, The Hunter or China Gate in this Via Vision bundle.
My blu-ray drive is the BP60NB10.
Nelson:
Whenever I have an extra not work, I find it is invariably because I mistyped the file or accidentally put a space after it. Here is the rule from PLEX site:
-behindthescenes
-deleted
-featurette
-interview
-scene
-short
-trailer
-other
Note: The filename must end in the -Extra_Type...
Someone responded to my post on the MAKEMKV forum, stating they have reproduced the same error, and that they "also created an MKV with another program and can confirm that the audio dropout is not present, as well as when played directly off the disc. Only when creating MKVs with MakeMKV."
Josh, It's the very beginning of Chapter 3 (or Part 3) the quick prologue info right before the Wonderful World of Color main credits, where the Scarecrow is talking to his men.
Thanks for the suggestion, but no change. All I got were 8 additional files like the Disney logo, the piracy is a crime, warning, views of the commentary, static page for selecting the movie, etc.
Checking the main title and it has the same missing audio for 4-5 seconds. I've posted over at the...
Well, I'm confused. I ripped the blu-ray of "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" and at the beginning of part three is missing a few seconds of sound. It should have music and then The Scarecrow says "There are some prisoners in the castle." Instead there is no sound at all until he says "They have...
Thanks for the PAL info.
In other news, my ASUS U9M External DVD drive has developed an extremely loud spinning noise while ripping, and no longer ejects the disc as quickly as it used to. It now makes clicking noises before finally ejecting the disc, and the tray doesn't come out very far...
I've been having a ball ripping my collection to Plex. I was wondering about PAL discs. If I purchase a PAL DVD, is there anything special I need to do to rip it so it shows properly? Do I need to demux it to slow it down to compensate for the 4% speedup during playback? I haven't purchased any...
Oh man! You two are bringing back memories. I remember seeing Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers at Club DeLuxe in San Francisco. One of many swing bands I saw there. Good times.
To be clear, I only had to use a Windows machine to apply a firmware patch on the UHD drive itself. I did the actual rip with MAKEMKV on my Mac to create the file. The end file itself (just the movie) is 57.87 GB.
I tried my first UHD disc yesterday. I had to patch the firmware on the external blu-ray drive, a BP60NB10. The only issue I came across was that I had to attach it to a Windows machine to do it (though I read that a virtualized Windows machine would have worked on the Mac). After patching, I...
I'm in the midst of ripping my television show DVDs, not in any particular order, and yesterday decided to do the Spider-Man '67 animated series. It came out with just one file for each disc, as they have each episode as its own chapter. I recalled that @DaveF had explained about using...
I want to thank you Nelson, for creating this thread.
I wouldn't have even tried this without the insight from everyone posting here.
I'm sure there is a lot more I need to learn as I keep adding my DVDs, Blu-rays, and TiVo downloads to my Plex Media Server.
Nelson, if you go into MakeMKV Preferences and under Languages select English for both Interface and Preferred, I find that it automatically checks only the english audio and subtitles.
I hooked the external blu-ray drive to another Mac I have that is running OS X 10.13.6 (High Sierra) and it works fine. I think the problem is Catalina, the OS that seems to have more trouble than any in recent history.
I've been using an external SuperDrive to successfully rip DVDs, and now want to do the same with blu-ray discs. I followed Wirecutter's current recommendation and purchased the LG external blu-ray drive. It ripped the blu-ray fine on my Mac Mini, but when I tried to eject the disc, the Finder...
I have followed this thread for awhile, and just this morning started from the beginning and read them all again, as I want to take my first step into this larger ripped world.
The one thing I have a question about is if MakeMKV is making an archival copy of the entire disc, like an iSO, or if...
