Just wanted to say again, how thrilled I am that we’re going to have all 14 seasons of this fantastic show finished on the release schedule about a month from now. Truly unbelievable!
Gary “counting the days” O.
My order of the final two seasons of Ozzie & Harriet via Bull Moose states that...
Gary "LOL, I certainly hope that's not the correct release date - if so I'll probably have to watch from Heaven" O.
I certainly agree with you, Josh. It really does make perfect sense from a business standpoint.
Gary "'I'm just grateful we have these sets - the best TVonDVD news in many a year for me" O.
This isn’t about “one iota of perceived negativity”. It’s an issue that goes back many, many years with a particular individual. Perhaps you don’t understand the backstory, and that’s fine. But you’re wrong in your characterization.
Gary “having said all that it’s probably best just to drop it...
You're spot on right about CBN. The show really would have been perfect for that network back in the day.
Gary "but at least we are finally getting all the episodes, cleaned up and in order" O.
Wow! After picking myself up off the floor I must say I'm pleasantly surprised, Neal. Very good. Glad you are enjoying the series.
Gary "and yes, it's sad to see Thorny leave the show - he is a hoot" O.
You are so right, Bert. And while we are at it, lets also try and get some 'sarong noir' going with that femme fatale Dorothy Lamour. And some 'western noir' going with Roy Rogers. And for sure some 'b mystery noir' with just about anyone from the 30's or 40's.
It's so true.
Gary "Kino...
The Kino Insider will usually tell us if that’s the reason a certain title can’t be released. Nothing about that in this instance.
Gary “I just don’t think that type of film is one Kino is interested in releasing” O.
This is a film I have been begging Kino to release when they get deals with Paramount/Universal. But my pleas have fallen on deaf ears. The really sad part is I saw the film a couple of years ago on TCM and it looks like it has been remastered. So Kino wouldn’t even have to do any/much work on...
Ozzie mentions it in passing during the episode, “The Fruitcake“. No specifics on the job itself though. Just that Thorny has an assistant/secretary that Ozzie surmises orders the fruitcakes in bulk to hand out to clients.
Thanks, Bob! You know this is right up my alley! All the episodes in one convenient set, complete and looking good. I'm in!!!!
Gary "Christmas will be good this year" O.
I don’t think they would do so on purpose. But cutting corners during this poor economy would not surprise me that much. I just don’t want to see a bunch of artifacting, or blocking, on these restored episodes. Just hoping they look as nice as they should.
Gary “please don’t disappoint me, MPI” O.
Right. But it still works out to 8+ eps per disc. Not thrilled with that personally.
Gary “I just hope they use high quality discs and solid manufacturing“ O.
Since this is a holy grail for me, I have already ordered all 4 season sets. And I'd love to order more in the coming weeks/months if MPI can keep up this schedule.
Gary "my only frustration is with the disc count in these sets - 8+ episodes per disc is pushing it" O.
Oh my stars! Sounds like the problems amongst the family that I heard about years ago are still ongoing. That doesn’t bode well for the dvd future of this fantastic series.
Gary “not that I trust Sam’s take completely” O.
So I have the inside scoop on how MPI will distribute the show. They will be releasing it chronologically, in half season sets, beginning in 2028. One half season release every 12 months. So we can look forward to owning all 435 episodes some time in 2056. Yay! 😁
Gary “obviously I’m...
Hadn't looked at that one yet, Jeff. Thanks for the heads up. Just one more reason that we are all anxious to get official news from MPI telling us (fingers crossed) that they will be doing complete season set releases!
Gary "still very happy I got the Time-Life set, but we of course also...
