Well... That's different! :D Well, my Bose bookshelf's are really sensitive to they're location. But, that's probably just because they're older, and they changed the design a bit.
I'll make sure the subs I get can carry the load ;) I'll give myself a lot of headroom, just in case I feel like blowing the roof off my house with bass that day :D :P
Well, I really don't see a point in having 8 subwoofers, unless your speakers had a really high Fs... I'll probably only get 3 subwoofers, 2 for the front, 1 for the rear. 7.3 is more than enough bass.

Sure. I happen to listen to bass-heavy music. And, sometimes just the sub doesn't cut it when listening at higher volumes (I have my speakers on pretty loud when watching movies/listening to music). And, bookshelf's aren't the best at reproducing the lower tones. So, I use floor-standing...
