David, It'll only come on when the receiver sends an LFE signal to the sub. Also, if you've got the sub's gain set too high and the receiver's gain set too low then the auto on feature may not work properly. BTW, a 12" sub rated down to 30Hz isn't very promising.

David, It differs from one sub to another, but I would figure it's probably 10 minutes or less. Just leave it in auto mode if it appears to work properly that way. BTW, tell us again which sub you have. Isn't it a Cerwin Vega? If so, what model # is it?

Even if it doesn't have an auto mode, just leave it on all the time. It'll draw so little power that you won't notice a difference. I have a pro amp that I leave on all the time.
