As a home theater enthusiast, I often wondered: How can I achieve room-shaking bass while retaining a small speaker footprint that meets my wife’s aesthetic expectations? This is why I was so intrigued by the SVS 3000 In-Wall Subwoofers. But I was skeptical. Could these embedded units really...
Great review, @Martin Dew! I recently got the Sony STR-AZ5000ES and have played around a bit with the 360 spacial sound mapping. It's a really great feature. For example, studs were in the way for me to be able to put some speakers in the "right" spots, and I'm sure that scenario isn't unique to...
That was a really great review. I was curious what to expect from the Auditions and after reading this, I feel like I know exactly what I would be getting. Thanks for taking the time to review them!
I'll just add that we have no interest in changing anything simply for change sake. Our goal with any changes is the sustainability of the website. We do greatly value input and want to see HTF thriving for decades to come.
I just watched. Very cool to see all that went into it. I'm just finishing setting up my new home theater room. Unfortunately it has to serve as multipurpose, so I've had to make more compromises than you. It's awesome seeing what a 100% dedicated HT room could be like.
Definitely appreciate the feedback! The good news is that rapid iterations will be much more possible with the new theme. But any and all feedback is helpful!
The new mirrorless cameras are pretty insane. My buddy sent me this with the Lumix S2, that there was no noise until he went past 12,800 ISO.
Between the cameras and this AI stuff, it seems like the technology has jumped so far so fast.
Same with sharpness... why get a really expensive...
Do I need to worry about too much power for a single breaker? I think I was reading another thread where the OP mentioned it.
And if so, do I just add up the amperage of the various components that will be on a single breaker?
Is there a subsonic filter setting? @Jonathan helped me solve a similar problem that was plaguing my subs for 2 years. If I recall correctly, we turned on the subsonic filter to filter out frequencies below 20hz and it fixed it. I'm hoping it's the same issue as it's an easy fix for a super...
I'm reviewing them for HTF, and if they live up to the hype, I'll keep them. Otherwise, I have a pair of great subs that I'll bring into the room. But from what I've read, they actually shouldn't disappoint. From everything I know so far have been really positive. And if I can save sq ft, it'd...
I got around to doing some more precise measurements. If I stick with the SVS 3000 in-wall subwoofers, they have to fit between studs, which would ideally place them about 16" in from the side walls . Imagine them just outside of the front L&R speakers in this mockup:
I'm concerned that, from...
I've done a very small amount of astrophotography, but nothing to write home about. I just got a new mirrorless dslr, so I'm sure I'll be playing around with some night photography this summer!
Keep me posted on if you take any landscape or astrophotography pictures! I'd love to see them.
PS-...
That's a great idea. I want to go with the Sony because it's sharper than the Epson, it's available thru Value Electronics, and it's cheaper than the JVC. But don't want a bum projector in 2 year. But with the 3 year warranty, this could protect me. Thanks!
I'll be reviewing them for SVS, but everything I've read about them sounds great. If they don't live up to the hype, I have a pair of 12" reference level subs that will work nicely. But I love the idea of the in-wall subs for the room, since space is already at a premium.
I'll read up on the...
No problem.
But quick question to anyone else: How do you feel about the Sony STR-AZ5000ES vs Denon AVR-X6700H? It's a significant price jump. I found this comparison on B&H, and can't figure out if the additional features of the Denon are worth a 50% higher price.
