Hi John,
Would something like this work? Or is it more of a gimmick?
BUBOS 12 Pack Hexagon Acoustic Panels Soundproof Wall Panels,14 X 13 X 0.4Inches Sound Absorbing Panels Acoustical Wall Panels, Acoustic Treatment for Recording Studio, Office, Home Studio,Dark Brown
Thanks John. I am hoping the rug and rug pad will work. Then Maybe some pictures on the wall or a bookcase may dampen sound.
I will try the mirror thing, so I need to be sitting down on the couch, and get someone to hold a mirror at various points in the wall, and then when I can see any...
Hello all,
I am currently in the process of getting my media room set up, it's modest for now, but I think it will do the trick.
It consists of a marantz receiver, speedwoofer, ELAC b6.2's L, R, C. I plan on connecting these to a 77inch OLED.
The room I have these in, is 13x12 feet, so almost...
Apologies if this needs to be a separate thread, but thought I would post my idea here:
I had a crazy idea - I have an office in this new house that I could repurpose as a dedicated home theater room, its about 12W x 14L - so pretty good dimensions I think.
The problem is, that it's quite...
Stupid question - but could I just pick one up from goodwill to tide me through? will older receivers work with this new gear, have power requirements etc changed or could I get away with something cheap for now?
Also, if I could only do 1 sub woofer for now, would you recommend in the right...
Awesome, any reccommendations for a good receiver for this set up? I can post another thread, but dont want to clog up the forum, just if you had any on your mind you wanted to reccommend.
Looking forward to getting started on this project :)
Yeah, I was thinking I could be strategic with rug size and placement, and have the cable drop down the speaker stand and underneath the rug. Or I could wall mount and run the cable to the receiver!?
John, would you reccommend purchasing 4 of those ELAC Debut 2.0's you mentioned earlier, and...
Great to know. So could I just buy 5 of the ELAC Debut v.2 as previously reccommended? Or do they need to be different?
And I would have them just behind the sofa, right?
Sorry, super elementary questions, but I want to get it right!
Thanks again for all the help!
Aweseome, thanks for dropping some names, I will be sure to buy a couple, I am leaning towards SVS. Two of them, in the left and right corners where the walls meet one another.!!
Thanks Wayne.
Yes it is staged furniture, the good news is we have a cloth upholstered couch as well as some canvas paintings/pictures and book case, which should fill the area up nice.
In terms of the back of the room you mention, do you mean it's irregular in the sense that there isn't...
Thanks John - I am not over an "overwhelming" experience - just be great to watch some movies with the family and not have echo's everywhere and just the general terrible sound from TV speakers :)
Thank you sir! Kindly appreciated.
I will be sure to make a seperate thread for that.
While, I have you, I was thinking about getting a large area rug (thick) and then some rug padding, something like these (in terms of thickness)...
Thank you, so those 2 ELAC's left and right of the TV on a TV stand, then two RSL sub's but actually on the floor in the left and right corners of the wall the TV in those pictures are mounted? That seems doable.
Also, these are just listing photo's, so our actual set up will look different, we...
Thanks Wayne. We are not huge audio people, but we do like a good movie experience, so we are definitely in agreement with the tile floor not being ideal... we are planning on putting in a new floor in the fullness of time. Would wood be preferable to tile? I don't think I could convince my wife...
Thanks, at first glance 3-4 subwoofers sounds... well... extreme BUT. I am totally open to it. Would you have any idea of what type of subs and speakers? any just brand names and models you could throw out just to point me in the right direction, totally new to all this, and just want to be able...
Hi and thank you!
In the fullness of time that whole area, including the floor is going to get remodeled. I defintely understand it's going to be a lot of compromise, but maybe I can get a 3.1 that will be better than just TV speakers, or is it totally hopeless?
Many Thanks
Hey y'all,
Recently purchased a home and want to have a good video and audio experience. It's open plan so I understand I am not going to get that theater immersive sound and that is fine! I just want to have a better sound that straight from the TV and have sounds bounce due to the open plan...
