I really can't wait to see it. The PQ of the 2 episodes I saw were pretty rough and took me out of the show. Roger Moore in a western was always bizarre to me. His only western film to my knowledge was Gold of the seven saints, which was also a WB production directed by the great Gordon Douglas...
I know you're a big fan of westerns so i dont think you will be disappointed. In some ways the show is a blend of several other westerns: restless gun, wanted dead or alive, tales of wells fargo with the main difference being the lead Wayne Preston, who has been forgotten by time. Week to week...
A part of me doesn't see them re-releasing shows that have already been made available. Mavericks quality is good for SD and has been available for a long time.
All I'm going to say is this, the conversation at the pearly gates is going to be interesting. In all seriousness though he was a talented player and charismatic figure, but as a actor I was never too impressed. The documentary OJ made in America is however a masterpiece. Controversial figure...
I give this an exception. The fact it's never been re-broadcast or shown is a strong reason, when you couple it with the fact it was part of a series of westerns that all have been released. Many lorimar/WB shows have atleast been shown in syndication.
And to add to this the murder subplot truly was boring. I love the aesthetic of the movie but the second half is hard to sit through. I actually prefer Schrader's film about a Calvinist whose daughter runs off to make porn. And he goes full Ethan Edward's to find her.
I do
I do wonder if the use of stock footage played a part in it as well. All of the WB westerns used extensive stock footage in many episodes to cut cost and save time. Had they shot in color they couldn't use the stock footage Warners had from prior films.
From what is out there they did plenty of riding on the show buy most stunts were done by stuntmen. Landon stated on Johnny Carson that Dan blocker broke his collar bone in season 2 doing a stunt and that he literally popped it back in place and finished the scene. Usually you can tell when it's...
A film I've wanted to see in a proper presentation for nearly 2 decades since initially discovering it. I anxiously await a pre-order link for this film.
The only western that really takes the cattlemen association to task for the murders they were committing against immigrants. Other than a small subplot here or there I can't think of many that showed it how it was. Wonderful review, as are all the rest. I really am enjoying the thoughts on each...
There is little plot in "2001" but last time I checked its one of the greatest films of all time and it's all visual. Ryan's Daughter is a devasting story from Robert Mitchums charcter point of view. He trusted her and she broke it. And on top of all of that he stayed by her side when all turned...

Gunmans Walk-1958 via Google play HD 5/5
One of the best B westerns of the 1950s that gives Tab Hunter his best role IMO of his career. Harry Cohn borrowed Hunter from Warners and initially told him on their first meeting " I wanted Paul Newman for this part", Hunter simply replied "...
More Dead Than Alive - 1969 via streaming Amazon Prime 2.5/5
The legend of Clint Walker is one many western fans think of when we think of "TV Cowboys" who have a special place in our hearts and minds. Walker was 42 when the film was released and he still was in great shape and form as " Killer...
I could care less if someone likes Ryan's Daughter or hates it ( I personally love the film) but when people use such words are trash I can see why ones blood pressure may rise to describe a film they like. It reduces all the work that went into a project as pointless. Its better to state what...
This is me putting in a place holder and listing a few westerns I've seen so far this month.

True and what further boggles my mind is if it does happen and we see Judy's POV from her being hired to the last shot of scottie standing on top the tower, what is gained? Thematically we would still have the same story that Hitchcock gave us, with only a few more scenes of Judy just because...
Usually this is my stance. What I don't get about this is the intent. What could be fixed in the new version that makes it a better story, other than telling the story from Judy's POV. And highlight further scottie actions and overall creepiness.
Honestly hollywood needs to take a stab at...
If it's a older actor male lead, I wouldn't mind Hannah waddingham for the female lead. She has a certain grace and elegance that reminds me of actresses from the past.
Personally the dvds for most of those shows suffice in my personal view. As to new blu rays I hope new releases are more so shows that haven't been seen. Temple Houston would be welcomed since its never even been re broadcast. But out of the WB westerns Cheyenne or maverick are the only ones I...
I do hope that colt has some of the promos available like the first season of bronco did. Now in broncos case it was will Hutchins introducing the next week's episode of sugarfoot.
The reason season 2 had only 13 episodes is because behind the scenes wayde preston was in constant fights with Jack Warner over salary and accommodations. When warner didn't adjust things on set he just didn't go in to work. This put them behind in production and ABC had to show re runs because...
