Which long running 50s sitcom would you most like to see get a complete release?

Yes, the episodes are often mistaken because they both include the obnoxious kids. The correct Space Patrol Kids episode (uploaded in 2018, since removed) includes both Von Zell and Bill Goodwin, and includes a mention at the end of George and Gracie's appearance on the September 1951 cover of...

Which long running 50s sitcom would you most like to see get a complete release?

I much prefer The Bob Cummings Show over Bachelor Father -- the latter is a milder, more family-friendly version of the "bachelor as proxy parent" premise, with fewer laughs and not nearly as many memorable characters. And with the comedy of Paul Henning, Bob's a reliable delight.

Which long running 50s sitcom would you most like to see get a complete release?

The 1950 Christmas episode wasn't aired on the West Coast. The company moved from New York to Hollywood and offered a whole new episode the following week (so that the bigger New York-centric market would still see something new the following week, keeping up its every-other-week schedule). This...

    ClassicFlix RARE TELEVISION Thread

The comedy sounds like it's going to be Jess Oppenheimer's Angel. One of the better single-season sitcoms of the early '60s. (If it's not, my second guess is The Tab Hunter Show, which would be really exciting.)

Ozzie & Harriet Release From Sam Nelson?

I believe they share the same bed in "Separate Rooms" (1953) from Season 1.

Press Release MPI Press Release: The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet Seasons 1 & 2 (DVD)

Finally finished all eight seasons. I had never seen most of these before. I think my favorites were S3, S4, and S5, with a lot of gems in S6 as well. I miss Thorny when he goes, but I do love the little adult ensemble that develops in S5/S6 with the Nelsons, Darbys, and Randolphs. (I'm always...

Press Release MPI Press Release: The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet Seasons 1 & 2 (DVD)

I agree. I'm watching many of these episodes for the first time, going chronologically. I'm in Season 3 and it has been my favorite so far. I think "The Furnace" is an all-time classic.

Press Release MPI Press Release: The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet Seasons 1 & 2 (DVD)

I don't think this is fully accurate. The first couple I've seen share a bed on TV who *weren't* married in real life was Gertrude Berg and Robert H. Harris on The Goldbergs (1954). It's likely they were not the first, but we'll never know because so much early programming is forever lost.

    Our Miss Brooks on DVD

There are two episodes that are neither in the syndication package nor in circulation. Probably the only way to get them right now would be an official DVD release.

I would like a Mister Peepers book (and the rest of the episodes on DVD).

Shows you think deserved one more season

I wish Rhoda was able to finish out its last season and ended on Brenda's wedding, which would have been a nice full circle moment given how that series started.

My new revelation - 70s TV wasn't that bad!

Well then, sounds like we’re both in agreement! We don’t find a decline in value between our favorite sitcoms from the 60’s and those from the 70's-all of which were hits-and that means neither of us agrees with the thread's premise that based on the 70’s hits, it should be a “revelation” that...

My new revelation - 70s TV wasn't that bad!

Beyond the fact that there definitely aren't 42 great sitcoms from the 60's (or any decade), quantity again doesn't equal quality. Take your 6 favorites from the 60's and compare them to your 6 favorites from the 70's. Which have better writing? You'll probably still say the 60's, but for me and...

My new revelation - 70s TV wasn't that bad!

Yes it's a special one. All of those sitcoms are fun and classic and rewatchable. But I'll take the writing of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, All in the Family, Barney Miller, Soap, and Taxi over the above any day. And that's not even to mention The Bob Newhart Show, The Odd Couple, M*A*S*H, etc. To...

My new revelation - 70s TV wasn't that bad!

I think the 60's has worse hits and even worse flops. Quantity does not equal quality.

My new revelation - 70s TV wasn't that bad!

Gee I always thought the 70's was the best decade for sitcoms. Look at them all: the Norman Lear shows, the MTM shows, the Garry Marshall shows (not my cup of tea, but they have their moments) and then all the offshoots like Soap and Taxi. And of course Barney Miller. There's a consistency...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Been watching more of S5 of The Beverly Hillbillies. Liking it more than I remember liking S4 when I first got that set a few years ago. Still crossing my fingers we get the rest of the series.

Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie rewatch

I'm firmly Team Bewitched over here. The depth of storytelling and use of character was night and day compared to Jeannie, I don't care how much we like the cast or how we excuse its sophomoric writing by calling it "fun"! Stack the first seasons up against each other, the second, the third, the...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I finally cracked into my Beverly Hillbillies S5 DVD and started watching. The black-and-white years are so much better, aren't they? Golly.
