RODAN in the 85 minute Japanese with English Subtitles, is currently running on several free streaming channels including FreeVee, Tubi as well as basic Amazon Prime Video (with commercials as they use the FreeVee feed). The quality is good (authentic looking.. but a little washed out for my...
That's good to hear, I hope they include a music only soundtrack option. The music deserves to be heard. If Warner does not have the entire soundtrack, maybe DECCA (um Universal, which is the current DECCA owners do) just like they had a complete stereo soundtrack for the Glenn Miller Story...
I was working in theaters in the 1960s when Paint Your Wagon came out as a road show attraction. Admittedly, I was a high school kid, but the film stinks. Sorry. Honestly, Lee Marvin in a musical?
KL is also issuing it in BluRay for us folks not buying 4K...
Rating: PG-13?
For some reason they have never issued on digital media the original XXX rated version. It's much better. I only saw it once, on a VHS tape I borrowed from a friend. Can't remember who put it out, and haven't seen one for sale. That friend is now deceased. If you have a copy...
I don't know what elements are left to work with, but 80 Days is the type of film that would benefit from a "music only" audio track.
DECCA issued a best-selling album in 1957 which contained the main themes. But Victor Young wrote much more music. Hit Parade Records in Canada issued a Deluxe...
That actually makes sense for that period, as albums were intended for sale. However, nobody could have envisioned films being sold on any "home video" format. I'm sure the contract was renegotiated when the first home video release came about.
True, I went to see it with my son and his family. The grandkids really enjoyed it and they did not know that much about the previous films..(the last film was in 2008).
But the theater was remarkably empty.
It's smart to bundle the 4K with a Blue Ray otherwise it probably would not sell enough to make it financially.
I understand we adults want quality. But if I was buying this for my grandkids to watch, I know how young fingers can destroy physical media. :) That's why streaming is so popular...
Beware, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (Criterion Collection) is available in both a two Blu-Ray and a Blu-ray + DVD collection. Not needing the DVDs I bought 2 Blu-Ray set which unfortunately does not include the small map of the places used in the movie. It must only be in the Blu-ray/DVD combo.
I believe George Lucas referred, at one time, to Techniscope as being 16mm. Which is basically true. The resulting film, I understand was basically a wide screen 16 mm size since they used half the standard 35 mm frame. But in all honestly, he used it on his early films as he could not afford...
No new features not on previous releases , so I guess I'll pass.
They could have at least added another commentary track by some respected professionals, speaking about the history and impact of this film on American culture.
Some of the film fans here, may not be aware that when the Green Hornet speaks, it's not Gordon Jones. When the serial was made, the producers realized that Jones voice was just not very commanding asthe Hornet. They made arrangements with WXYZ Radio (and Green Hornet creator George W. Trendle)...
I went with my mom to see Gone With The Wind sometime in the late 50s or very early 60s. Looking at the reissue schedule it may have been in 1961, anniversary of the start of the Civil War. I don't have any real special recollection of that day..but I do remember my mom for weeks would say...
I think it's a two part problem. The younger generation does not want to own physical media so there is no future for such. I only buy DVDs and Blu-Rays for the bonus features including commentary tracks which are not normally featured on streaming services. Besides with the introduction of 4 K...
The article posted says, "The Blu-ray of "Rodan" currently on the market" I haven't seen it referenced anywhere. Bluray.com lists a Criterion 2K Bluray with no release date. I hope they get David Kalat to do the commentary on it and possibly a Godzilla 1985, since it was the official sequel to...
43 minutes into the PBS special they have a brief excerpt of a promotional film, where Davis said how proud he was to be in the film. The documentary tells how he campaigned for the part of Sportin' Life in the film. They did use one wide screen song excerpt and that was probably all they...
I saw a promo once that said something like 80 percent of BBC America programming is made for the USA audience. Now call me the dumb guy in the room. But as an American I would want to tune in the BBC channel to see BBC shows, including concerts etc. Not for more of the same old thing on all...
You do need a 3D Blu-Ray player, but modern TV standards, except for 4K, are high enough they will display 3D. How long those sets will stay on the market is anybody's guess as more sets are being made 4K compatible.
Here is a Sony info page updated in 2022...
It's my understanding, as long as you stay away from 4K, that most any modern TV these days will display 3D, they just don't come with the glasses anymore.
After watching the Blue Ray of Brothers Grimm several times in both modes "flat and Smile" I am wishing instead of offering the flat version that they had instead used a cinemascope print like would have been used in general release after the film completed it's road show run. The current...

Music rights is the main reason WKRP is not around. WKRP, in fact, was heavily re-edited in the ‘90s to remove songs that the program had lost the rights to.
Here's another article:

It's been reported that he actually died today, July 27th.
"Tony Dow, the actor who endeared himself to millions of TV viewers as Wally Cleaver, the all-American big brother on the wholesome sitcom “Leave It to Beaver,” died July 27 at his home in Topanga, Calif. He was 77. The cause was...
Robert Crawford added.. "Well, one of you is wrong about this issue."
Not necessarily, Even if the feature was delivered to theaters with Overture, Intermission and Exit music, that does not mean every theater used them. Depending on the usual show starting times at the theater, the...
Amazon reports.. "This title will be released on December 31, 2022." and you can place Pre-Orders. But I suspect that is just a guess on someone's part.
