I've decided to wait a little longer -- I think a Laser TV is going to be the answer for me, but I don't feel like the timing is right just before the holidays. I use it my home theater a lot during the Christmas break (kids home from college, etc.) and I don't want to be re-working things at...
Looking very hard a getting this now. Would appreciate a flood of insights from the forum here. I've been happy for years with my Epson.
What does Laser really mean for me? My set up has a ceiling mounted short throw, about 11 feet from screen. Does Laser mean it has to shoot from below?
I...
I'm not the one to answer about other alternatives out there. Just wanted to post that my Elite (with hub) still works like it was newly introduced tech.
This movie makes me sad -- as a huge Bela Lugosi fan, it was the under-performance of this movie that I associate with his different path from Boris Karloff. I think Bela was a singular talent, and his 1930's films are great, but for some reason he couldn't quite catch a break career-wise...
I was clutching my pearls with a full-on case of the vapors. Having said that, I might consider skipping Rocky 2 and Rocky 5 in your journey. Rocky 2 is predictable and snoozy at times, and is very well recapped in Rocky III. (Rocky III makes a great sequel to Rocky in my view).
Rocky IV is...
I highly recommend this to people as well. I'm an Altman fan, but on this one he experimented with dialog, sound recording, etc. and it doesn't quite hold up for a new viewer trying to follow.
Saw it today and loved it. I'm having trouble breathing when I read these posts about not having seen the previous Rocky films.
Rocky is like a giant heroic battle that has played out over my whole life. I saw the first one at age 7 in the theater, so each of them since, and now enjoy them...
First one was good, second one -- they chose one of the weaker books. The story was just boring.
The problem was not Tom Cruise.
Jack Reacher has been demoted to to streaming, and Lee Child is trying to act like Tom Cruise was the problem? Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher was a huge lift to...
I'm a huge fan of this film (and of the Mighty 8th in general). This film was used for leadership training when I was becoming an Air Force officer. I found out later they also used it for my Dad (who trained in the 60's to be an Air Force pilot).
The subtle ways it captures all the different...
The commentary track on the blu-ray is very informative. Kirk Douglas (Trautman) pulled out the project at the last minute because of the script changes relating to Rambo's ultimate fate.
And for those of you haven't read the book, the body count is much higher (like maybe 30?). Rambo is...
I wasn't confused about how it works and I own hundreds of digital titles. But I do think this is one data point in the long period of things settling in, and I do wonder if pre-90's movies will be too niche to be a part of "a la carte" streaming packages.
I probably confused the issue...
I don't really care about the Funko stuff and booklets. I'll take my time and buy this when the price drops. I've got too many things to watch and re-watch already.
I'm waiting. My picture still looks great, and I'll be having to upgrade three other things at the same time.
The longer I wait, the cheaper the technology gets.
On the school playground when I was a lad, we lived with the absolute metaphysical certainty that "killer bees" were on their way from somewhere to Our Town. It was considered our destiny to meet a fate like that shown on the Swarm.
They also told us the oil would run out soon and also there...
I'm waiting until everything feels "just right" in terms of quality, price, and timing. Because, as you say, my set up looks AMAZING to my eye right now, and when I get a new projector I will also have to get a new pre-processor, and a new blu-ray player. So I may as well just enjoy the heck...
The things I like about my Fire TV are as follows:
1. I like having a device where the maker of it is not making money by selling me new devices, but by having a platform to sell content. Over the life of the program, Amazon is pretty much going "loss leader" on the device and is determined...
I use chronological by original release and it takes away the problem. I enjoy seeing the panorama of movie history on the shelf anyway. I have little cards that mark the decades as a visual aid.
