Glad it wasn't just me that felt the low end was overcooked on that Blu-Ray's mix!
I think it will be 7.1 this time again as well, but hopefully both the mix and fidelity should be much better based on RAH's report. :)
Damn…that was an incredible read!
Would love a similar interview talking about the restoration and new Blu-Ray presentation of "Spartacus" as well.
We are fortunate that both films have been rescued and are now going to be presented to us on Blu-Ray as they should have always been seen...
Yeah I got the same thing. Very routine.
The 'incorrect' delivery estimate that was listed more recently on my order page (October 5-7) is now gone and it's back to:
"We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated...
Amazon (in the US) is no longer listing it as "Currently Unavailable", and it's back on preorder for the price of $35.99.
It's also back to saying "This title has not yet been released" with no definite release date on there yet.
Now amazon lists the new Blu-Ray as "Currently Unavailable".
My guess is they are fixing everything up and putting in all the correct information, which is finally overdue.
I also got the message this morning, but I feel like this is probably a mistake.
I definitely won't cancel cause I still have the lower price that I want, but if amazon manages to send me the original Blu-Ray around the beginning of next month, it's going right back to them!
No way am I paying...
There's so many things to love on that site!
The trailer looks fabulous, the Oct 27th release date is confirmed, and the amazon link goes right to the original preorder page, so that means those preorders from a year ago (like mine) are still valid! :)
What would it take for Paramount/CBS to add an HD Ultraviolet code to this Blu-Ray/DVD set?
I would LOVE to also have "My Fair Lady" in my HD Ultraviolet collection like so many other great classic films! :)
Well with news of a release date and preorder already out there for the restored version of "Spartacus", now we need more definitive info on the new release of this restored version of "My Fair Lady". I can't wait to see it! :)
Well there is one person who may or may not know about a restoration, and if he is involved with it in one way or another, then I think it's bound to be a winner!
Now we just need news of a Criterion Blu-Ray release, and all will be well in the world. :)
If it's not announced for release by the middle of September, then I think it will be out next year. The wild card? Criterion. Let's see on Sept 15 if "My Fair Lady" is part of Criterion's December releases.I think it's possible that CBS would license the film to Criterion for DVD & Blu-Ray...
Be sure to check out the new Sept issue of "American Cinematographer" for a GREAT article about the 4K restoration of this amazing film! There's plenty of quotes in there from our own Robert Harris, and it sounds like the film will look the best it's ever looked in the last 20 years! :)
Amazing news! Now if only Universal would be willing to do the same with "Spartacus". Or they could re-license the film to Criterion, cause we all know Criterion would do a proper job with the film. That Blu-Ray looks even worse than "My Fair Lady" does.
Yes, but probably not to the extent that it has needed restoration since it has been in CBS' hands all these years.
After watching the 1994 documentary on that restoration, I was appalled at how bad the condition of the negative was.
I cannot imagine that Warner Bros would have let it get to...
This news is SO AWESOME!I have been saying since the beginning of this year that "My Fair Lady" needed a touchup on the 1994 restoration so that it actually looks good on Blu-Ray, and it looks like that is actually going to happen. But does anyone actually believe that CBS has completely financed...
That's fine concerning the releases you mention are WAC releases. But what about the main WHV distributing arm?Sure we get a "Gone with the Wind" set and an extended edition of "Once Upon A Time in America", along with these "DiamondLuxe" releases, but last year they seemed to be putting out a...
I hope that a PROPER Blu-Ray release of "My Fair Lady" is planned for the end of this year, that is if WHV have successfully been able to license the film from CBS with enough time to actually make it look presentable for Blu-Ray.
