I assume the Blu ray itself is identical to the blu ray that was originally released several years ago, whereas the 4K disc is a different transfer as noted with the 4K set...(?)
Last year I decided Amazon might be the most likely to have the latest corrected disc on a title, under the theory they probably turned their inventory quicker and would be the better candidate to have 'fresh corrected' stock. Didn't work out that way and I received the bad disc a couple of...
I would put 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence' on the top of my heap. Just a superlative example of late Ford where he's at his finest in every way. Then 'The Searchers', another exquisite example. And among the many others I have to include two of the Peckinpah's, 'The Wild Bunch', and 'Ride...
While I enjoyed revisiting this series, this set is sadly in need of remastering. Color was poor, print showed dirt in spots and the overall sharpness not good. 'Timeless Media Group' is the label rather than Fox. The bar has been raised on the quality of releases of this era's series, thinking...
I don't imagine this is anything new, but I contacted this email address a week ago regarding the replacement of the Psycho disc,
[email protected], and received this response within a couple of days:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for letting us know your address, and other...
I just started this season after focusing on seasons 13-20 of the complete collection. The Remastered quality dropped noticeably with this season for some reason. Maybe 12 was done earlier when they didn't have the same standard in place used on 13-20. This would include choice of elements I...
A question for Mr. Harris. Wondering with a 'later' era film such as this one or 'High Plains Drifter' in receiving a new scan/restoration, since they were originally released in IB Tech, is there any typical effort to use such a print for color reference? I get the impression with later era IB...
My feeling is it's one of those unexplained Hitchcockian ' effects' he was trying, to avoid depicting the expository scene 'straight' or conventionally, in view of the fact he so often talked about his priority of affecting the audience emotionally with the visual. How well it worked??
Original mono to me means the complete composite sound track from the original release, presumably from an optical track as opposed to the track which accompanied the original Blu ray, which while containing the redone gunshots at the outset, it also included many restored sounds from the...
Isn't this Vertigo disc the same as the one in the original Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection (Blu ray reg. A), with the redone FX track that much more resembled the original Mono, rather than the original itself ?
Hopefully they improve cardboard case that holds the 6 box sets. Getting one that didn't have a crack down the seams that was damaged at some point in shipping was very challenging...
I grew up on and loved Gunsmoke in the early seventies, well into it's evolution. I recently started season one, giving myself one episode a day. Have to say this season is a tough one for me to get through....everything it became isn't even close to being there yet. Ironically I've read many...
Mr. Harris, sorry if you covered this elsewhere already, but why does the Arrow 'Far Country' release look so ordinary, IMO, in spite of touting a 4K scan from the OCN?
This helps explain why the 'The Far Country' (1954) BD from Arrow, which is supposed to have a 4K scan from the original negative, looks very ho-hum....
Has anybody knowingly received the .2 corrected disc and observed that it handled the Sync issue (as opposed to one who hasn't noticed, observed or cared about the issue) ?
WAC (WBSHOP.com) responded that they could only answer 'issues related to items purchased through' their site. They said 'I might' send an email to the WB main site, from which I've received no replay. I also see the BD is a Made on Demand now, I don't recall seeing that when it was released...
Thank you for that! I contacted WAC customer service as you suggested. Makes me think I'd better give the Dracula AD 1972 disc another watch for the same thing before too much time passes....
Then of course Vertigo, the biggest yet-to-be fixed example of Yellow dye failure in my mind, and it's spectacular faded end scene. I'd heard of a 60th Anniversary version but haven't seen anything beyond the original Blu ray 'restoration' efforts?
I adjusted my Sony player all the way trying to resolve the audio sync lag in most of the film but couldn't, so guess I'll have to live with the distraction. Beautiful release otherwise.
In addition, an Anolis Entertainment rep. has reported they have secured the rights from Warner Bros. to all of their Hammer Draculas through AD 1972, these are available from Amazon Germany and contain removable German subtitles. They will be releasing the balance of them, having already...
I wonder which 'Universal' logo they used? I have been seeing some recent releases returning to the 'A Universal Picture'(69-73?) that preceded the 'Slow zoom into space and dissolve/appearing Earth' with simply 'Universal' that appeared around 1974. These seventies Universal logos were...
Thank you for this source! I do notice one modest annoyance...they add Sales tax to a CA sale, though their customer service Q&A indicates otherwise...
Mine is coming from ImportCD.com on preorder...supposedly shipped a week ago. Then I see it left a 'partner warehouse' in Hebron, KY. I see Amazon interestingly has a big shipping warehouse in Hebron, KY (a town of some 6K population)....and I have another coming from an ebay seller called...
OK. It's loaded with atmosphere and is unique, though obviously 'cheap' appearing. It sticks in the memory, which I like. As a kid it was very 'brooding' and spooky, great castle. I always found it rather amusing the way Lee would describe it alternately as, 'I did a rather indifferent film...
Only thing I found curious is the Aspect ratio: Feature in HD at Franco's approved aspect ratio of 1.33:1.
Unfortunately I find it hard to get excited about a transfer that boasts this aspect ratio from this Era...why would
Franco the director shoot it this way, rather than shoot it to...
