My understanding is that MGM have the 70mm print (roadshow version) slowly decaying in its vault.
However do MGM have cut versions of the film in the 70 mm format in their vaults?
I think you will find Wayne made mistakes throughout his career with film choices he chosen to do or not taking up other projects he was offered or declined to take part in. I think that some of films Wayne did in the 50s were flawed career moves, "Jet pilot" and "the Conqueror" for starters...

From the very first time I saw the Alamo on british tv in the 70s and onwards, the birthday scene was included in the screening. No doubt there are different cuts for different markets throughout the world:confused:
While you say that Batjac are no longer the film producing company they were when JW was alive, they have been involved with Paramount in restoring their back catalog including McLintock and releasing them on DVD, hopefully in the future on blu-ray.
