The other thing you could do Sam is look around to see if you could find any floor standers that are blown. Once in a while you can get lucky finding nice speakers that people abandoned because they are blown. Then you don't have to deal with tuning the box to get it just right, however you seem...
Alright so right now I have a Projector that only has vga and composite inputs. I've been running my coax cable through a VCR and out with composite to watch TV with it, but with DTV and an Analog VCR I'm only getting about half the channels I could be. Plus I'm getting a new surround sound...
ha gene c i think we posted a link to the same thing lol. anyway then if i do just have a coax cable hooked up to the tv i don't need an audio return channel to try and watch tv in surround sound?
Here's kind of the one i was thinking about. Its about 225 on amazon. This however is the most informational site i could find. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/753328-REG/Sony_STRDH720_STR_DH720_7_1_Channel_AV.html I know sony isn't really known for their receivers, but it is still...

my price range is about $250-500. I'd like to stay on the cheaper side of that scale as much as possible, but that being said this needs to be right, not cheap so 500 is kinda where i'd top out. I'd prefer an onscreen menu but I guess its not completely necessary.
So I was hoping if I listed a few features that maybe I could get some suggestions on some receivers? All opinions welcome for sure -denon, onkyo, sony, yamaha or pioneer -7.1 with at least 75 watts per channel -dolby truehd decoding -graphical or onscreen menu -audio return...
Hey Sony just announced their new line of Sony Receivers lately. I know the Sony STR-DH720 up converts analog video image up to 1080i. But my question is can you input a coax input and upconvert that?
