as others have posted; The King And I looks spectacular on VUDU, color balance is rich and detail is superb. Anyone see Carousel yet on VUDU? I think the whole set is a waste for the poor transfers of K&I and Carousel. Oklahoma is spoiled by the inexcusable night sequence not timed and appears...
I have no problem with the sound. I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE NIGHT SCENE LOOKING LIKE BROAD DAYLIGHT...that is one unforgivable flaw and ruins the flow of the connecting night scenes!
regarding Striesand's involvement, i know she was very involved prior to the restoration years back for the DVD - i read she would preview samples and reject them and send them back to the lab. of course she was interested in this new restoration and especially restoring in keeping with in...
near end of film, ...(... hey Boo)... makes me cry like a baby every viewing, EVERY VIEWING and this blu ray is the best. I have seen this great dozens of times, from horrrible 16mm dupes in high school to retropective theaters touting a new print and charging $10. This blu ray is as if i have...
agreed bryan, i am not sure why some are seeing synch issues with SP? plus i finally saw the beautiful (also originally TODD-AO) Hello Dolly released by FOX on blu ray last month! i am sure people may see what may appear to be synch issues there with Streisand, but i have always seen her to...
had not noticed any lip sync issues period, only how well the cast is lip synced to other's voices or in Mitzi's case her own voice...one of my favorite musical films of all time, the blu ray is my own dream come true and to this day praise FOX for releasing this blu ray in 2009, making this a...
Hello!
I am not sure if any of the following have already been mentioned...will any of the following be getting any attention, preparation for blu ray release?...
• Two For The Road
• Valley Of The Dolls
• Born Free (MGM...maybe FOX has acquired?)
• What A Way To Go!
• Peyton Place
• The Best Of...
i saw it too last night (finally)...i was wondering too about that Jane Russell stunt...agree about the DNR but didn't really notice it from my normal viewing distance (70" screen). Still, this is the best I have seen the movie look ever and the DNR did not bother me unless I looked real...
Got it... I only see them when I read reviews here and elsewhere (when screen caps are attached to those reviews) on my PC screen...so I don't really use my PC screen as any reference how it will look on my HT screen. I go more by what the reviewer says and just use the screen caps attached to...
To James-
Thanks, I think I got that...but why the controversy? I don't play my blu rays on my PC, just my LG player which is connected to Netflix etc..... I guess I am asking because all this discussion seemed to jump way over my head on the subject of sreen caps.
Please be kind in response to this...what are screen caps? I should know...but honestly I don't as I am a more casual home theater enthusiast. I like to see my movies on the best equipment I can afford (currently 70" Samsung Plasma HD, Anthem and Paradigm audio, LG blu ray )and in the best...
Hi Robert,
So I am guessing that since most of the other MM BD titles from FOX that have pretty much been criticized, that Shawn Belston was not involved with all the titles? Haven't seen River yet. But I do understand now about the faded dupes used for Millionaire, I looked at it again. I...
Thanks Doug, I will have another look tomorrow, you guys have a trained eye and keen knowledge for cause and results, so I know you and Mr. Harris know what you are saying...I'll get back to you after I give this BD another spin tomorrow...
Thanks...That is what I am saying, tuxedos that appear blue were blue, the black tuxes appear black...also the woman I mentioned is wearing black along with two other woman more in the back of the stage who are wearing black and all their blacks appear to be black. I don't see how the blue...
I just reviewed the opening scene. Not all the "black tuxes" register blue. Particularly during the angled close ups, you can see men wearing black tuxes (and they look black) seated next to those who look to be wearing blue. Also the prominent woman is wearing a black dress and it does look...
Thanks Mr. Harris for your highly respected view. Perhaps because I viewed SYI (which I thought was particularly abysmal as I stated in my post) prior to Millionaire, that Millionaire looked to me a huge improvement. Millionaire has always looked awful on video right up to the last DVD. So...
So far, How To Marry A Millionaire is the best looking of the FOX titles...actually stunning, sparkles! More on par of what FOX can do with a Cinemascope/Technicolor film of this vintage.
Re: Seven Year Itch... I have already pointed this out on the Forever Marilyn Collection...
Thanks Chuck, I agree. And that is what I meant, using an Ultra Resolution process like Warners. When you see what they did with titles like Singin in the Rain, you would think FOX would have given this title the same "spare no expense" process. I haven't seen the other Marilyn titles yet...
thanks for confirming Christian , seems like someone was asleep at the wheel during that segment (4 minutes or so)... Netflix is currently streaming SYI, (full frame after credits!)...whatever, I cued that scene, no problem with that same segment, no red shift. So it was definitely an easy...
Re: Seven Year Itch...Has anyone else noticed that during the last 1/4 of the movie (after the iconic blowing dress up on subway grate)...during the scene when she is sitting in front of the air conditioner and hiding behind the chair when the janitor comes in...and then she stands up...from...
Bless you Mr. Harris,
Your original post here reminds of when Nick Clooney (George Clooney's Dad for those of you who wouldn't know) formerly of AMC when AMC WAS AMC. Anyway, we had here locally advertised Nick will introduce "The King And I" and present it in its original Cinemascope glory...

With all due respect to all the concerns here, (with all my friends on Home Theater Forum) I think what I saw last night was glorious. This was on pretty...
