So I am going to be going with the SVS STS-01 towers, SCS-01 center, and either the SCS-01(M) or SBS-01 surrounds. I have a no-name sub that's very old which I may or may not use, depending on how good the towers do at providing the necessary bass. I also may end up purchasing a new sub, but...
Thanks Joe. I'll have to take a look at the A&C routine, and maybe I'll post a video of it later on. (Currently at work as well and can't access YouTube).
So would it be safe to assume that the SVS speakers will timbre match? I am looking at the STS-01 Towers with the SCS-01 Center and either...
Damn Seth, if only you had the SVS SCS-01(M) L/R I'd be in on this.
What's the current price for the SVS set?
EDIT: Also, am I correct to assume the SVS speakers come with the black grill? Any stands or anything like that?
Shoot me an email at [email protected] for a quicker response.
Great, thanks for the responses, Robert and Jeff.
Robert, you mentioned "timbre matched." Excuse my ignorance, but what does that mean exactly / how can you tell if the speakers are timbre matched? Does that just mean the front three have the same ohms?
Could anyone take a stab at explaining to me the importance of watts and ohms with regard to a HTS? I'm just curious about what I need to look out for... i.e. how do I determine how many watts per channel my receiver needs to support my speaker system? I will be purchasing a 5.0 speaker system...
Thanks for all the info, guys. Total price is not a huge concern for me - I just won't be buying all at once.
I have actually narrowed down my search to a few sets of speakers - seven to be exact. Prices vary, and I am sure the quality varies. My intent is to buy a portion when I am ready, and...
Also, gene: Not really concerned about keeping the whole thing under $1k. Would like this batch (receiver, bookshelf speakers, center speaker) to stay around $1k. I think in a few months I'll end up splurging on some serious floorstanding speakers for the front.
Phew - those Axiom packages are pricy!
I've been looking around, and this is what I think I may do: buy a pair of bookshelf speakers and a center to start, and eventually purchase a pair of floorstanding speakers to place in front and put the bookshelf speakers in back as my surround speakers...
Hi guys,
Looking for suggestions for a receiver. Currently system-less, but looking to build a 5.1 HT system. The receiver will be my first purchase, but I'll likely purchase a set of front speakers around the same time I buy the receiver. I will probably end up buying Axiom/SVS/Paradigm front...
Thanks again Robert. I will take a look through and try to get a bit more comfortable with the HT "lingo" so I can make an educated decision.
What are your (and others') thoughts on Axiom, SVS, and Paradigm speakers? I really like the price on Axiom's M3s (www.axiomaudio.com/m3.html), and also...
Robert_J,
Thanks for the response. I apologize for my lack of clarity - I know very little about sound systems, and what I enjoy is hard to say because I've listened to TV sterero my entire life. What I'm looking for out of my sub is a sub that actually ADDS to a movie like Die Hard or Mission...
Hi all,
I am a first-time HT buyer, and am looking for some advice on what to get. My expectations are low, as I've been subject to TV-stereo quality sound my entire life, so I am basically looking for a 5.1 surround sound set-up that will enhance my viewing experience of sports, movies, and...
Hi all,
First, apologies if this is in the wrong forum - wasn't sure where it belonged. Now on to business...
I recently moved into a new apartment with a good sized living room. I have a beautiful 52" LCD 1080p TV, HDTV cable, and an Xbox 360 with HDMI cable which currently serves as my DVD...
