Should I Parallel wire speakers, or cut down the number of speakers?

Thank you. I want to make sure I understand: it is your belief that the speaker should be 4' or less (closer) to the closest seat, in order to get away with a single pair?

Should I Parallel wire speakers, or cut down the number of speakers?

@Wayne A. Pflughaupt Does it change anything if I choose a different speaker with a different design? Such as the Polk 65-RT: https://www.polkaudio.com/products/65-rt .... It doesn't appear to be a "woofer-tweeter-woofer" design like the 265-RT.

Should I Parallel wire speakers, or cut down the number of speakers?

The receiver manual is making it sound like 6 ohms is the minimum impedance that the surround amps will support. Paired with the Polk 265-RT (whose manual doesn't specify the impedance, so I'm assuming is 8 ohms - and I don't have the speakers yet, so I can't look at the speaker for this info)...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

@Robert_J I've posted this issue (parallel vs series vs neither) as a separate question at https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/should-i-parallel-wire-speakers-or-cut-down-the-number-of-speakers.360862/

Should I Parallel wire speakers, or cut down the number of speakers?

I've got a 7.2 receiver w/ Atmos. I'm building a theater in a room that is about 12' x 19'. There will be two rows of seating. My concern is that with only two surround speakers (one left surround, and one right surround), and two ceiling speakers (one left, one right), only one row of the...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

To answer your question, I was planning on parallel wiring: two of the polk 265-RT's (for side/back -- not front's) two of the polk 80 F/X RT (in-ceiling) ... and wiring in series is also an option... I have the Yamaha RX-V683, I haven't checked the manual or interface yet to see if it can...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

Wow, this is great news, ... and the prices you are quoting are within my budget. I'll have to check out the local dealer and just see what they have. I won't know if I don't ask!

    Declining Polk Speaker Price Trend

@Mike Frezon ... I appreciate the pictures. I believe I have the exact same rug, haha. What is meant by "LR" in this sentence: "My HT is in a 12x18x9 foot LR with two walls wide open into other rooms." ? @JQuintana ... Once I purchase, I'll completely stop thinking about these kind of...

    Declining Polk Speaker Price Trend

Yes, my concern stems from the fact that I was considering buying some of these speakers, but now I'm starting to wonder if the Polk Brand is going downhill... ? Or is there a more positive or more benign reason why the average sales prices are declining? So yes, I ask this as prospective Polk...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

I could actually do wall mount for the satellites. I will check some of them out. I just need the Left/Right/Center speakers to be in-wall so that they can be behind the screen, so I can get the screen size I want...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

I'm looking to spend about $2400-$2500 on speakers and subwoofers. Hoping for a 7.2.4 setup. I did say 5.2.2 in the Original Post but that's for the Receiver... As far as actual speakers, though, I am planning for 11 speakers with hopefully 2 subs. (And then wiring some speakers in parallel...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

If the financial situation was much different, I'd be likely to go with one of the Triad in-wall subwoofers options, since they are deeper, and I have the space for them, and I'm already liking the Triad brand. Maybe I'll wire some extra speaker cable to that part of the room and leave it as a...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

I found some good reviews of in-wall subs. I don't think I'm that picky, so I would probably be satisfied with the audio performance of, say, the Totem Tribe 12" in-wall. That said, my pocketbook isn't satisfied with the price. Before I started this thread, I wasn't aware that there were some...

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

Well I have made some preliminary decisions. But I've got nothing built yet so I can change my mind. And I have changed my mind about some things already. See, I'm still trying to figure out what it is that I want. One thing I won't be changing my mind about is in-wall loud speakers. But that's...

Thanks, I'm new to this "infinite baffle" idea, so I'll check it out. As luck would have it, I do have some extra space in an adjacent room where I could put something like that. Great comments, thanks.

In-wall vs standalone Subwoofer & in-wall vs standalone speakers

Hello, I've got an unfinished basement and am in planning stages right now. I had settled on building a 5.2.2 home theater system (used almost exclusively for tv & movies) with in-wall & in-ceiling speakers (including in-wall Left, Right and Center speakers), but with 2 standalone powered 12"...

Thanks for the great info, everybody. I'm not going to mount wall speakers because I've just bought the speakers for the holes. I've decided I'm going to get the Yamaha RX-V655BL. I know this will be frowned upon, but I'm going to wire up the first set of side ceiling speakers (the ones...

    9.2-channel solution needed

OK I figured out what "full" pre-outs means... basically having a pre-out for all of the channels. .. Here's what I'm thinking. ... If I set up 7.1 speakers on the amped outs, then also hook up the extra two speakers to a separate amp that is only hooked up to two of the pre-outs, then I...

    9.2-channel solution needed

I googled wiring speakers in series and basically what I understand now is it's a really bad idea. I think I'll have to either pay up $1000 for that 9.2 receiver, or just let one set of speakers just be unused. (Or find an amp that supports 4ohm loads... but a quick search gives me the idea that...
