I agree moving it up into Ronald's top 30 list, which I have found very helpful, accurate and reliable. The problem is: what does it replace on the list? Maybe it's time to have a top 35 list. JTTCOTE is one of the best and fun 3D movies out there. Excellent 3D and lots of pop-outs. If the list...
IMAX: Under the Sea 3D is my go-to demo 3D. Spectacular.
I also agree, sadly, that 3D is in decline. We'll see more BD releases as there will be 3D theater movies this year, and I assume they'll be released for home viewing, but the writing is on the wall. I recently bought a 4K 3D TV. Over the...
I'm new to 3D. Ronald -- Thanks for the expert advice and this forum. Long live 3D. Here are a few standouts I recently watched.
Pacific Rim 3D ***** WOW! Very impressive, immersive 3D experience. Demo Quality for all 3D lovers. A Must See 3D.
Thunder and the House of Magic 3D ***** WOW! for...
Funny you say that -- I gave my Star Wars VHS tapes some years back to my son, who still has them. He told me that they are pretty worn out due to watching them so many times over his 36 years. He has the blu-rays now (only IV,V,VI) but I know he would jump on getting BD's of the original versions.
I consider Clift one of the best actors out of Hollywood. I have The Misfits and just purchased Wild River. I'd buy Red River in blu-ray without any hesitation.
I remember back in the early 1980's in Minneapolis I went to a special showing of Ben Hur at one of the few theaters left that had a very large screen. Before the movie started, there were other coming attractions that, frankly, seemed large on the large screen. But then, Ben Hur began, and...
There is a review of Star Trek The Motion Picture at denofgeek.com
He wrote: "On Blu-ray, the film generally looks fantastic."
There's much more to his review.
I have read at another post or another site (I don't recall where) that the producer of the Baraka BD is exchanging defective discs for newly manufactured ones that supposedly will work. You'll have to do a bit of research into contacting them, but that is what I recall.
I'd like to confirm Ratatouille (and any Pixar movie). It was the first BD I saw on my new system and we all said 'WOW'. The color and clarity are stunning. I have heard over and over that Kung fu Panda is also spectacular (but I haven't seen it yet). Add 'I Robot' to the list.
Baraka and Sony S350 is a well documented problem. Some have speculated that the disc is warped from the cheap cardboard packaging. Regardless of the cause, it has been a problem on the S350 and some other players. Some people claim that laying the disc flat (out of the box) for a few days...
