I don't see why it was a problem to post this in the DVD forum since TV-DVD is all about shows like these. And some of them are unavailable and of interest to those wishing for their DVDs. No, I am not from KTLA. I also don't understand why it would be a problem if KTLA spread the word here...
We are having a KTLA 60hour Retro Marathon to celebrate our 60th anniversary year. The marathon begins on Friday, 11/23 at 10pm and runs all-day Saturday, all-day Sunday until Monday 11/26 at 10am. We have an awesome variety of shows representing what KTLA has aired in reruns over the past 60...
I thought Jon Favreau had mentioned their release because he had even done a new "Dinner" style interview with Robert Downey Jr. on the Amazon site a few weeks ago. Perhaps the sets are just delayed?
You have to figure they will not only continue but conclude the series so that they can do a boxed set. Maybe they'll aim for Christmas 2008. Series that don't have far to go like Taxi, Mork & Mindy and others should get similar treatment since the Complete Series sets seem popular. Now bring...
"I don't find the single-writer implausible at all, especially since it actually happened to Sorkin himself during much of his time behind The West Wing." It is highly unbelievable for a weekly, live sketch show which usually has at least one dozen writers. As for WW, Sorkin wrote much of...
That was a special disc available at Starbucks. They'll always do "Best Ofs" and more current cast members. I'd be surprised if S2 doesn't arrive by Christmas.
If there really isn't a market for some of these shows, the studio should get more creative in the packaging. The "best of" sets for Mad About You (which lead to a Season 3 release) and Larry Sanders were good starts. Presumably, they hope the minisodes online for the more dated shows will...
I found it to be seriously overwritten and pretentious. There were so many implausibilities from the get-go (such as one writer scripting most of the sketch show, totally unfunny sketches by genius writers, a network chairman flying to Podunk to aid an ensemble cast member) and I quickly got...
The complete boxed set of HOMICIDE has the L&O episodes, I believe. It would be a good idea to do a special dvd of the crossovers and some extras as M*A*S*H did with the Finale DVD.

I find the hard drive indispensable in editing the shows first before putting on dvds. Whether it be to remove commercials or just split the episodes off a vhs tape. I may have been using the recorder a lot in the past year but too often, I have been getting error messages. Those disc drives may...
"Futurama" and "Family Guy" were relatively cheap shows to make. I don't think prime-time animated shows are ever cheap to make. Especially with the salary of Matt Groening & Co. for "Futurama." There is such a long lead time for production that they have to order a number of episodes way in...
All in the Family has been a fairly annual release. I'm hoping they will include the 200th episode hosted by Norman Lear when that season 9 comes out. It hasn't aired in decades.
Maybe if Eddie Murphy does make that theatrical remake of Fantasy Island, the dvds will happen. I don't get how they didn't issue S.W.A.T. Season 2 when the movie came out.
I'm concerned that the Deniece Williams/Johnny Mathis version of the song will cost more and they'll balk. Or "At This Moment" by Billy Vera and the Beaters in season 4.
Hopefully the trend for Angels, WKRP and other series will be to finish out the remaining seasons so that they could do box sets of the complete series. It would be awesome if WKRP could do that and use the original music in a high-end collectors set.
Did they alter the theme song? I suspect the promo "extras" will be from the Paramount syndication package and not the original NBC promos. Daphne Zuniga was Alex's girlfriend during his senior year of high school (as was Jami Gertz if I recall). She was also his ex in an episode of Spin City.
