WAC had mentioned, on their Facebook page, that we would have news very soon about the MacDonald/Eddy films and it's the perfect timing for my birthday too. Too thrilled for words!!!
Just wanted to share the good news about the Warner Archive reply that I received on Facebook upon my asking about The Constant Nymph (43).
This is the best DVD news ever as far as I am concerned. Such a supremely beautiful movie.
Hello to you too! Of course, I can plainly see the problems and shortcomings, but somehow all the good points far outnumber the problematic ones for me. I have great hope that the most serious issues will be resolved with time. Whenever I have faith in someone or something, it's rather...
Just caught up with recent news - The Amazon Exclusives probably won't stay at priced at that higher price very long. Great to see new films listed there and the first 150 on MoviesUnlimited! Look for the Silver Lining? I could never pass this up? Where musicals are, I go! ;) And it all means...
No bad experiences ordering through the website for me. About 20 titles by now. I have them shipped to WI and then from there to me.
Sorry to hear about others experiencing problems though! I hope everything gets resolved quickly.
I find this SO puzzling too! - Why dismiss or totally forget all those years of brilliant efforts and achievements from Warner just because the handling of the Archive titles isn't precisely what some people have in mind or because there are a fewer announcements? I am staunch supporter of the...
No downloads for me unless that's the only option.
Of the 20 new titles added today, Four Daughters and Princess O'Rourke are going into my next order.
We seldom hear of Princess O'Rourke - but it's a really delightful film, a precursor to Roman Holiday in its theme and to me, the better...
Thank you for this post. I find it so unfair and downright sad to read pejorative terms such as "dumped" or "relegated to" when I consider the Warner Archives what they were intended to be, a genuine treasure chest for film lovers.
As I have stated in earlier posts in this thread, since I do not own a large display or a highly sophisticated system, it's only normal I guess, that the shortcomings you speak of are not obvious. When I bought new components last year (including TV), I did not get into HD or large screens...
Thank you for the great review. I just got the set as a gift yesterday, so I cannot wait to watch it. My favorite of the bunch is It's a Great Feeling though, followed closely by Tea for Two.
I would especially want: Backfire (50) The Man I Love (46) Second Chance (52) - not considered noir by some, but actually much more noirish that several titles included in the Fox noir collection series The Woman on Pier 13 (51) - that one is almost a parody with a very troubled...
 Loved it! Thank you for the humor, it was well needed at this point!
I can totally understand people being disappointed by sets-that-could-have-been, but I see the Archive as such a totally positive undertaking from Warner. Tweaking aside (which I am sure is being worked at), I think...
While I'm thrilled to see a lot of my favorites in this new list, I can relate to and sympathize with people who were hoping for an entire Garfield or Taylor or Tarzan set for instance. With coupons and discounts, titles averaged $10 (and not $15) in the past week, so here's hoping to more...
Don't forget that with this week's on line discounts and the Buy 2 Get 1 free code, titles were actually $10.64 each until Friday plus free shipping on orders of $60 and more.
Anyone getting 2 currently discounted $15.96 titles and getting their third $19.99 title free is now getting them EVEN...
The story may not be much, but all those lovely song and dance numbers! That's more than enough to make the film enjoyable for me. Big fan of Dennis Morgan, Gene Nelson, Lucille Norman and Mayo's voice double Bonnie Lou Williams. (For the record, Trudy Erwin sings for Virginia Gibson; she was...
I just emailed two friends of mine who ordered films this very afternoon.
Regarding the survey coupons: one of my friends entered his Survey code (the 15% one) and said that applying it actually made the current 20% discount on selected titles disappear! So he removed the Survey code for every...
With the current 20% discount on most Archive titles PLUS the SPITFIRE Buy 2 Get 1 Free code AND the free shipping, the order I placed earlier this week for 6 films cost me just $63.84!!! That's $10.64 per film! That's even less than the price point most people were clamoring for ($15) at the...
I personally know nothing about this film, but it is one of the 165 titles offered as part of the exclusive Warner Archive Collection at WBshop.com - The Official Online Store of Warner Bros. Studios. You can check out the relevant threads about the Warner Archive for more details too.
Standard DVD / small display review....you have been warned. I thought that Room for One More looked absolutely pristine. As happy as I am about the quality of the others I have watched so far, this is decidedly the best-looking. And, may I add, a beautiful, heartfelt, touching story too...
The preview clips are there for the new films now. I just watched a few.
Can anyone tell me when the SPITFIRE code expires? I did not get this email and wanted to wait until later this week to order (my US friend is out of town!). I am planning to get 6 more with this great promo, bringing...
Warner must be reading my mind ;) - out of the new 15 - there are no less than 4 among my most wanted films : Thousands Cheer, Luxury Liner, Quality Street and The Little Minister
Plus I will eventually get the Robert Ryan westerns to replace my VHS. And I am also interested in the Dunne and...
I have received 4 Archive titles and have 2 more on the way. If you consider small displays preposterous, you can skip this review right now or have a good laugh, your choice...;) I have a standard DVD player/recorder, a brand new tube TV perfect for the all the Academy ratio films I...
