the 6 analog outs go into a db25 cable. the db25 goes into the switcher. then db25 back to 6 analog into reciever. In my case, db25 goes directly into receiver.
I'm using just like you discribed. I have a onkyo dv-sp800 which does dvd-audio and sacd and the toshiba hd-a1 which I have both using 5.1 analog out to my onkyo ds-tx989 which uses db25.

Target has alot of the releases for $19.99 and not just the ones released that week. I picked up training day long after it was out. Amazon is a bit cheaper, but you have to wait for the last released disk to save on shipping.
The player is set to 1080i. I've tried both HDMI and component. The last test is to disconnect the cables from the HDTV tuner and put them into the HD player. The exact same hookup as ota. After that, I give up.
