I'm not sure how to answer the original question. Do I choose for my own interests, or do I choose for the sake of history? Do I choose high-quality shows with limited interest (at the time), or do I choose shows that were "typical" for the era?
A more intriguing and answerable question came...
I sympathize with fans of the show, but I'm not interested in any of the missing MP seasons. After You Know What happened at the end of season 3 and Who Cares Who bit it in season 4, I lost interest in the show originally, and I can't see it changing now. BTW, I think the rest of the seasons...
I've never been as organized as planning out a schedule for my DVD watching, though I have occasionally thought about doing it. Basically, whatever I'm in the mood for I'll watch. Shows I'm not familiar with or have forgotten about I'll watch in episode order; others I'll pull out a specific...
Only one true blind buy and it worked out well - "Here Come the Brides". Good as it was, it was definitely losing momentum the farther along the season got and with the whispers about adverse changes coming in season 2, this is probably as far as I go with this one. But season 1 was good and...
Intriguing. "Parker Lewis" is a Sony product, so it got my heart racing a little. But the devil is in the details, and there just aren't many of those available yet. We'll see.
My opinion is that DVDs are a few years away from oblivion. On Demand will take away some of it, but IMO the real revolution will come with memory sticks/flash cards that you can either plug into a multimedia device attached to the TV or into the TV itself. At first, TV series would be split...
"Duckman" is promised for this year, and that was on my list, so that's good. The rest of my list (not in order): * "The Watcher" * "The Tracey Ullman Show" (all seasons or best of) * "Parker Lewis Can't Lose!" (seasons 1-2) * "Savannah" (season 1) * "Freshman Dorm" * "Hull High" *...
Thanks for the review, Tom. A couple of comments:
Perhaps because "Commencement" was already released on VHS some years ago and they got the rights then.
It's on my Christmas list, so I'm sure to get it sometime in the next year. That's plenty soon enough since I have all the episodes on tape. What I'm most curious about is if they cut out all the songs from their own soundtrack. This was the season they released it, y'know, and they played at...
90210 had its own soundtrack which was released during season 3. They played all the songs from it at one point or another on the show (and some had mini-videos during the closing credits, as mentioned). I wonder how many of those songs are going to survive the cuts.
Thanks for sharing. The good news is that Sony does seem to realize there would be a profit in bringing the show out of the vault. So maybe they'll do it themselves, sometime...
I was thinking about "Freshman Dorm", the books and the TV show, and I was trying to think of other television series that were made from books. I couldn't think of any. * There are some made from comic books, but I'm not counting those. * There are many made from movies that were also...
Hmmm, so many choices... I'll make a list of eight, so I can include a couple of TV mini-series. These aren't necessarily in order: * Amerika (mini-series) - Alternate reality about Russians conquering the USA. Chance of release (see original post for scale) - 2. It came out on VHS many...
PLCL is on my short list of shows that I'm interested in. I'd even buy the third season - which I wouldn't ordinarly bother with - if I could get the first two. The show may not have aged well, but I'll take that risk.
Of the shows that have been released or officially announced for release, I think I'm about done. The only ones I'm interested in that I don't have is Seinfield-4 and the Warner Bros. Cartoon Collections (technically not TV, but that's how I got to know them, so humor me), and those can wait...
Each season of each show is judged on its own merits. I only buy the seaons of the show that interest me. That said, I'd say most of the series I have/want on DVD had very short runs, so the issue is moot for them.
For the fun of it, I've decided to provide a mini-review of this show. So far I've gone through the first 9 episodes, which is all the episodes on the first DVD. I haven't gone through the extras yet. Well, let's start with the bottom line: This is an excellent, excellent show that is...
Well well. It looks like Amazon has finally found those missing boxes, because my copy has now shipped. Perhaps others will have theirs shipped also. Check those orders.
I'm sure the five of us who are still interested have read the latest news, so I won't bother quoting it. I'll just comment that Amazon is now showing "usually ships within 4 to 7 weeks", but my estimated ship date hasn't changed. Goodness knows when the thing will finally ship for real...
It started when I found a hold on my credit card from Amazon. It wasn't for the full amount, so I went to my order page to find out what was going on. The other DVD I ordered at the same time as GP was ready to ship, but GP was showing a ship date in mid-January 2007. Amazon asked me to...
Corrections: Angie and Savannah both lasted for two seasons. Herman's Head ran for THREE seasons.
Its name is Woops!, and of course it only lasted one season. I've listed my favorites elsewhere, not that they "deserve" a release or anything like that. Most of them only lasted one season...
