I only have the room and budget for a 6.1 setup but most recievers I see are 7.1. Should I just get a good 6.1 or can I get a 7.1 and run it with a 6.1 set up?
I have a friend who is building a home theater room in his new house. He wants to go with a Bose Lifestyle system but I told him that he would save money and have a better sounding system if he built his own. He likes the HTD Level Two's. I'm just wondering what you all think. The Lifestyle...
I'm looking at getting a new TV. My budget is arround $1000. I was wondering if there was a big differance between LCD and Tube HDTV's? I dont want a bigscreen projection tv because everyone I know that has one has had probelms with it. I know the LCD weighs less but would the tube picture be...
I'm still brand new to this too, but I can tell you one thing I've learned. Dolby Digital is better than Prologic. Prologic, from what I understand, just takes the analog L/R inputs and decodes it to 5.1. Digital is just that, a digital signal. I'm not too sure how it'd decoded or whatever, but...
Thanks everyone. I get to go to a Best Buy this weekend (Friggen YAY!), it's about 100miles away, but I'll listen to the speakers there and check em out. I like those fluance speakers too. Nice price.
I was wondering if there was a way to share and optical audio connection. My reciever only has one optical imput but I have two things that use optical. Three, really, but with the DVD player, I can use the coaxial one. Any way to do this?
If I buy a decent center channel, like a JBL or Infinity...something arround the $100-$150 mark, could I go cheap on my front L and R and rear L and R by purchasing KLH? How aweful are these things? I dont live near a Best Buy (Yet. They are building one about 40 miles away but that will be a...
I was thinking of building my own speakers but had a question. If I build a center chanel with two 8ohm speakers, does that change the ohms all together? what about an 8ohm driver and 8ohm tweeter? Would I need two 4 ohms to make it 8 ohm?
The amp says that the connections for the center and front are 4 ohms. Do I have to get 4ohm speakers or will 8ohms work with it? Please corect me if I'm wrong, but if I connect an 8ohm speaker to a amp that outputs 100 wats per chanel at 4ohm, wouldn't that cut the wattage in half and only...
Hi. My HTiB has 8 ohm surround speakers and 4 ohm front and center speakers. Number one, I thought 4 ohm was for car auido. Whats the deal with that? Number two, is it hard to find 4ohm home theater speakers? Anyone know any sites that I can find them at? Thanks in advance.
The receiver has the regular spring connectors for the speaker wire. It does have a sub output if I want to add a powered one later. The sub is 8in. The speakers are all 8ohm. Given that, I have a follow-up question. Someday I'd like to add better speakers, but that will be down the road...
Thanks for the info. I bought an Acoustic Research optical cable. Is that any good? It was a good price and shipping was low. I'll try moving the sub arround this weekend and see how it works. Thanks for the tips.
Hi. I'm brand new to the home theater scene and I have a couple of questions. First, I'll tell ya what I have. I received the RCA RT2390 as a Christmas gift. It comes with a "powered" sub, but the power comes from the receiver, not its own built in amp. So, ok. The bass sounds fine, but I'm...
