FT: Amazon Gift Card for Behringer BFD

I was hoping someone would want to trade a used one for $100 gift cert. I've seen them for sale on here for $80 or so, so I figured this may be a good trade.

FT: Amazon Gift Card for Behringer BFD

I asked for an Amazon gift card for Christmas thinking that since Parts Express has products on Amazon I would be able to pick up a Feedback Destroyer Pro. Well guess what, this is one of the few products PE doesn't have on Amazon. I couldn't find it there at all in fact. Essentially I am...

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Yeah, I really love my M&Ks. Not the prettiest speakers in the world, but very clean and accurate sound. I cannot complain one bit about them. I just wish I could afford their active line of speakers...those are supposed to be pretty incredible with 180 watts (I think) per speaker.

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Right now I have an OLD (1997 or '98) Denon AVR2700. Only has Dolby Digital 5.1 (no DTS or newer formats). I think it only puts out around 75 or 80 wpc. Has been bulletproof so far even running 4 ohm speakers all around (not supposed to run loads greater than 6 ohms). Speakers: Center: M&K...

    PE Plate amps on sale

I concur Rory, the 500 watt seems to be a great amp for the money even though I just finished my sub last week. Really pushes the Tempest well even though for most it may be overkill. Nice to have the extra power for future upgrades or the additional headroom.

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Well even though I didn't completely finish the box (neither painted nor veneered...haven't decided), I at least built the box (raw MDF) and mounted the amp and Tempest. First impressions...WOW. Compared with my other sub (M&K V125), it seems to much stronger down low and overall output is...

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Well after a ton of consideration, I have decided to build the mid q sealed tempest design. Hopefully this won't turn out to be a mistake but if so, back to the drawing board to start over. I figure with the PE 500 watt amp, I should have plenty of headroom to boost the low end if need be by...

    Recommended Tempest Box?

So Joe, with your statement: "With a big enough ported enclosure, you will find it very easy to listen to with music as well", I guess you are strictly recommending ported for the extra low end extension then. This is why I was leaning towards a ported enclosure, but al's plot above shows pretty...

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Ok, so after looking at the site that shows how to lower the cross over point for the rumble filter, I decided that even though that would be ideal, I am just not going to take chances on opening up a brand new amp and solder in new components. Too much risk with my limited abilities on a $300...

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Al, thanks. Maybe I am doing something wrong in lspcad but according to the program, the -3dB point was at 31.84 Hz and the graph continues the decline from there. This was for the mid-Q sealed design that you are using. However your graph is not at all indicative of this. On the graph in lspcad...

Owen, thanks much for posting the graph. Definitely some "food for thought."

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Robert, thanks for the tremendous input you have provided. Yes I would definitely like to see the link to lower the freq at which the rumble filter kicks in. So you think that sealed would be ideal for what I am trying to accomplish? It seems as though most go ported with this driver so I just...

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Owen, thanks for the info. Unfortunately I can't see your frequency graph. Do you have this posted somewhere else so that I can view it?

    Recommended Tempest Box?

Owen, what sub are you considering going with now? I have considered just selling the Tempest I have and going with something newer, I'm just not sure if that makes much sense or not.

    Recommended Tempest Box?

So Robert with a sealed Tempest, could I reasonably expect SOLID low end extension down to 16-18Hz? From what little I have played with lspcad, it seems like a sealed Tempest starts rolling off well before 20 Hz and its output is down considerably at 16-18Hz. I know power won't be much of a...

    Recommended Tempest Box?

I am finally getting around to designing and building my first DIY sub using a Tempest I bought last year and the 500W Parts Express amp I bought off of Brian a couple of weeks ago (Thanks Brian). While I have played around some with lspcad, I still think I need some help from those of you that...
